Weird noise when hitting a bump with clutch depressed
Hi, i'm new here. I just got my new Fit LX 2008 two weeks ago and this week I noticed a weird sound when I hit a bump while the clutch is depressed (changing gears or stopping). When I hit the bump/hole I hear a noise that seems to be two surfaces rubbing against each other, a kind of "whirrrrrrr", like slowing a spinning bicycle wheel with a cardboard. Again, it only happens when hitting a bump with the clutch depressed or in neutral.
Thanks in advance for your help!

I've experienced this too.. i have no idea what it is.. it happens when you go over a bump and depress the clutch and brake at the sametime.. i've learned how not to make it happen.. i'm still curious as to what it is thou..
maybe it's your ABS fluttering, and you only notice it while your clutch is disengaged because it brings the engine rpm (and engine noise) down so that you can hear it?
or it could be the sound of your car's front lip rubbing the bump (if it's a speedbump you're talking about).
Just a couple of guesses i'm throwing out. any other ideas?

nah not abs.. this happens at very low speeds for me 1mph - 5mph... not rubbing because my car isn't that low.. plus i can feel it in the brake pedal.. it feels like a wire rubbing against something so its like friction..
same thing here, my car isn't that low. and no, not a speed bumpo either, just a large crack, hole, or anything on the road... in Montreal roads are horrible, you actualy end up looking the road infront of your car more than ahead in order to avoid these holes. Well, not the point here :P
The feeling is more in the brake pedal than anywhere else for me.. its not a clutch grinding sound.. its sounds more like a metal cable rubbing along the edge of a metal surface if that makes any sense.. i'm sure i can replicate it at will, so if i went to the dealership i could point it out to a tech..
nah, just reproduced it this morning while on neutral. Without the clutch depressed.
Check under the car, where the halfshafts run to the wheels from out of the transmission. I installed the KWSC, bent an A/C line right in the way of the halfshaft. It would rub every time I turned or braked. Just bent it up a bit and out of the way of the shaft (I think it's called a halfshaft. The black thing that spins the wheels).
