Yeah the interior space is a good size, I was able to move my bikes around that way before as well. The main reason I went with a rack instead of using that method was because my bike tends to get muddy... like 3" thick gooey stinky swamp mud! I didn't want to trash the inside of my Fit so I got this... it is great for washing my bike too at the car wash too!

I also do long road trips & camping in the summer, lots of gear to bring and I like to bring the bikes along. It makes travel way easier when you don't have to stuff everything around the bikes.
