Modding OEM Taillights

I was wondering if anyone out there has taken the time to mod their USDM OEM tail lights by taking off the lens and painting the silver part to match the body color or by blacking it out to match a black front set of headlights.

I thought this might be pretty cool. Then you could dress them up with some led bulbs.

I might try to do this if I get the smoked JDM tails and have some extra time.

there's a thread where a guy did that somewhere here, it seemed like a whoooole lot of work and you had to peel the head lights apart, but good luck if you want to do it :-D

I'd like to know as well. I live in an area where the police are rather "detail oriented" (picky jerks!). It does look nice!

During the day the lights are kinda iffy as far as being seen. Thank god for the 3rd brake light tho..... I have never been pulled over for the tails ( knocking on wood ). When it is dark the still work great so that is not an issue just during the day if there is a glare they are hard to see.

Yes it is VHT Spray tint. It is 3 light coats of vht and 2 coats of clear coat.
