Bumper Protection and Nose Gard Questions
Hi FitFreeks,
Glad to be one of you. I bought a new 2010 in Feb. It is the light blue and I gave in to partners request to get an automatic - but I wanted the stick. But it is all good.
I got the door edge trim kit but it lacked the liquid required to prep the area so I'll have to go to find some before installing. I did manage to get four coats of wax on it right away.
The Bumpers trouble me. I live in SF and parking is really tight and everyone does what that have to to get a space. I didn't even know the plastic parts (bumpers) are painted too and it doesn't take much to scratch them.
I would really love to get a big black band of rubber applied to the front and back - I think there is way too much blue anyway and want to black it up a bit.
Has anyone seen anything like this? And where can I get it.
I see the Nose guard and wish there was something similar for the back.
Does anyone have the nose guard? How is it after a good rain?
Thanks,

Welcome to FF's. There is black or chrome rubber like moldings on Ebay that go from 4mm with to 2". I have the front mask aka nose gaurd and after it rains I take it off to dry. The water and dirt scratch the paint if left on for a long period of time.
GL and enjoy your new Fit!!

Welcome on freakworld!!
I think you could prep the door edge w/ rubbing alcohol.
Some of the NYC freaks talked about bumper guards a while back: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...fit-sport.html
I bought the OEM nose guard from Honda. I use the hood section only, the bumper part is too difficult to manage in my opinion and I'm more concerned with rock chips on the hood. I've kept in on most of the winter, recently pulled it and there's been no scuffing or scratching to the surface under it. There is a slight 'indent' that appears to be impact related but no damage to the surface. Without the guard in place I'm positive it would have required body shop attention.

Hi All,
Just joined the freakdom. I have a white 2010 Fit and bought the nose guard right when I bought the car. I actually like how it looks but I mainly bought it thinking that it would protect the front end from all the road debris in the winter.
I just took it off today (kind of worried if I damaged anything-- I couldn't tell in the dim garage light). It was on from November til today. Once I get it out in the sun I'll post and let you know if there is any visible damage from having it on for 6 mos.
I don't think I'll be putting it back on. For one thing, it's not easy to take on and off at ALL.
I do agree with Krimson-- the top part that covers just the nose of the hood is easily put on and taken off, though, and I might continue using that portion of it.
More soon...

update to nose mask
Hi all,
I removed the mask for the summer--no problems with the paint or anything else. This winter, though, I'm only going to use the hood portion. After a very thorough washing,waxing...and cleaning of the mask, that is.

I continue to have the same experience - upper comes off only when I wash the car. No paint issues at all, using it year round. Trick is to wash and dry the underside of the mask well each time it comes off. I do it in the kitchen sink. One year of service and it still looks like new.
