VERY loud FR wheel noise at low speeds only in cold weather
Hey, I have a strange problem that I can't find any information about. This is my first winter in Alaska with my 07 fit, and the right front wheel is making a very loud rubbing, creaking sound only when the temperature is below 25F or so, and only when starting from a stop. The sound goes away after i reach 10mph or so. if i'm going 30mph and i accelerate quickly, the sound will show up for a split second and go away again. I'm pretty sure the sound is associated with the turning of the wheel since it changes as the wheel turns faster. It doesn't seem to be affected at all by the brakes or steering.
Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be?

I had the same problem too. At first I thought it was the clutch, then I thought it was the road. The dealer could not find the problem except to realign the front end. I think it has something to do with how the car got tied down being shipped from Japan. It ended ruining the tires but l left them on anyways.
check your components there: most problems there are only usually heard at slow speeds and usually sound like grinding and creaking:
ball joints, wheel bearings, even dragging brakes or caliper issues....
have you had any work done recently involving the removal of the hub asssembly?

i'm experiencing this now...but mine..the noise gets louder when i drive 60kph and above...100kph is really noisy humming sound...i think its the wheel bearings due for a change...120km in my odo...but i called the honda dealer for an appointment and was shock with the price of the wheel bearings front and rear.
ok. for anyone reading this thread, i think i figured out my problem. after driving the car yesterday and getting the same loud creaking noise when starting from a stop, this morning i checked the front disk brakes and noticed that the right one was a bit rusty and the left one was clean. this got me to thinking that the creaking sound might be the front right brake binding to the disk--stuck on, in other words. my theory is that the cold temperatures are causing my (probably water infused) brake fluid to freeze up, thus expanding and making the caliper close just enough to grip the rotor at low speeds.
i just finished bleeding my brakes, using information in this forum and on youtube, and i will update in a few days.
