Honda is discontinuing LaneWatch in favor of blind-spot monitoring.

I didn't think I'd like it, but after a while the feature grows on you. Other people who have ridden in the car really thing it's cool when they see it flip on.
My other vehicles don't have it, so it's not a feature I'd miss in the long run though...

Useless piece of crap.
I've got my own eyes to monitor the blind spot.
I already checked no one was in my blind stop BEFORE activating my turn signal. So, when the camera shows the blind spot image, it's just an expensive useless feature that passengers like to look at. Some drivers might be distracted by the screen and look at it while merging, forgetting to look in front of them. If traffic comes to a sudden stop... BOOM.

This forum always cracks me up with its weird distaste for safety features. You could also...be I don't know...looking over your shoulder at your blind spot and nothing close to forward and traffic suddenly stops and BOOM.

Many years ago, when my wife and I purchased a car that had a backup camera, I laughed to myself and thought there is a useless feature I would never use. Same with the blind-spot warning light in a later car. And yet again later, our Odyssey has the LaneWatch camera. And every time, I came to eventually utilize that technology. I still do the head-check when backing up or changing lanes, but I have one more tool to use in operating the car. I know I became dependent on those little things when I bought my Fit and it had....none of those things. It was refreshing yet discomforting.

Interesting.
I have Lane Watch...and I like it. But I use it as an additional tool, I don't depend on it in any singular manner. I still trust turning my head, using my mirrors.
I would say Lane Watch is what most impresses, new passengers. Whenever they see it come on, they think it's great.
I don't know how it compares to blind spot monitoring. Since I "old school" trust myself, I'm kind of thinking I would like Lane Watch better, as at least I'm seeing an area. But I've never had Blind Spot Monitoring so I don't know.
The downside to Lane Watch is it's only one side.

I was refering to people who actually look at the screen the entire time they merge or change lanes. I've seen it happen and it's scary.
