woke up to frozen fits...

not like this is anything new to me, but i dread scraping ice off the glass every am before going to work. i waste like 10min, much longer on real bad days.

i moved my snowbrum to the foyer so that i can push snow off the fits' roofs. it's a useful tool. i havent noticed any scratches from it.
check it out.. at amazon or ebay.

got back from a 400+ miles road trip in my '12. was a good drive, strong crosswind made it a tad annoying at times but overall a nice comfy ride. kept cruising speed low to maximize mpg for this trip and for a more relaxing drive.

got into 40mpg range which is like the first time ive seen it in my '12 with me driving.. as soon as i got back in town, mpg went down to 35mpg quickly and now down to 32mpg... lol

But the real question is, did you? (Or did the kids take all the cool stuff?)

Hope you had a great holiday!

for a no-season tire they are good tires. but i like things that are committed and dedicated, experts of wat they are intended for. jack of all trades can go to hell in my book.

actually today i changed my footing on the gas and just inputted more
throttle at different revup curves than before to compensate for the bogging.

yes it eats more gas but it didn't feel too slow. also, i think my ECU
is adapting to the warmer temps cause the response was much better
today.

so im checking with japanparts.com to see if they can get me a
steering wheel boss and some spacers. im going to do the momo and
see how far back i can go in the driver's seat while still maintaining
operable distance on the turn signal stalk. going to try 20mm and 30mm
spacers first. if i can go further back i think im going to do the 9/360
adjust spacer for additional 7mm or go up to the 40mm while having
the option to fine align the steering wheel straight.

the stock steering wheel appears to be about 90-95mm thick... the
steering wheel should end up around 125mm using the 30mm. im hoping
that i can go back 2-3 clicks on the driver's seat so that my foot isn't
so cramped up by the pedals. this allows me to have better throttle
control.
Hi kenchan,

I found your interesting post on swapping aftermarket steering wheel. I am trying to swap a Momo Tuner myself as i am trying to get the steering closer to myself (arms extending straight out while steering)

I came to the conclusion the S-319 Daikei is the correct boss kit for the GE8 as well (despite my capability in reading japanese) and came upon your post when i was researching more about it.

In a Daikei literature or some sort of product description in PDF form, i read that the total height of the boss kit is 95mm if i am not wrong with about 32mm sunk into the steering column counted from the bottom till the plate where it lays on the airbag clock spring. That gives roughly a remaining 63mm of height on the boss kit itself.

Like you mentioned, i too got a measurement of roughly about 90mm from around the airbag clock spring level to the back of the steering grip which means the boss kit won't place a flat steering wheel at the same reach as the stock unit, am i right?

I am considering to add on a BS-30 spacer with an AS-01 adjustable spacer to get the total height up to just above 100mm.

Would you happen to have measured the length of the boss kit where it extends from the clock spring before? Momo Tuner is considered a flat steering.

This is the only doubt i have before i plant my money into purchasing it.

Thanks in advance

p/s: i gather from the PDF it is 32mm (which is sunk into the steering column so the plate lies flat on the clock spring) behind the plate on the daikei boss and the remaining out of the total 95mm height in front of the plate. This is if i am right.

that was a long time ago when i did the install on the GD.. and sorry, i did not take measurements of the boss itself.

the daikei is a quality piece. btw, note that your turn signal stalk will be spread farther away from the steering wheel when you add spacers. that's great for racing, but might be a little clumsy for street.

so the last 2 weeks have been super busy at work and never really got a chance to sit down at the computer to buy my snow tire set...

and so i ended up going to my local tire store to have the one leaking DWS checked out. as assumed, there was no puncture, but the seal at the base of the tpms had a very slow leak. the shop gave me a new gasket, mounted/balanced without scratching the wheel... all for free

Hmmm. I was thinking that since the stock steering is about 90+mm deep counting from the rear side of the steering grip. The Daikei boss which is only about 60mm high will not let the replacement steering sit at the same distance. Most probably further away from me by my calculation.

That is why i am considering a spacer to set it at least at the same distance or closer. I might be wrong.

Anyways, it's OK. Thanks for answering anyways.

i remember the momo steering wheel i had on with the spacers was much closer to me than the stock steering wheel, otherwise defeats the purpose.
i cant remember the thickness i used on the spacer but it was like 20 or 30mm total because i also had the as01 sandwitched in there.

btw, if anyone is thinking about getting an aftermarket steering wheel, i highly recommend getting the as01. it's imho a must have.

i currently use it on my other car and momo eagle steering wheel.
