Nice to hear that you're making quick progress!

The GK5 is an interesting refresh of the Fit. I'm liking how it is reverting back to how simplistic and functional like the GD was in terms of overall layout (no 10 cup holders, engine not pushed far back for service, and easier access to basic/common replacement items like exterior bulbs). In addition to that, it seemed a little more fun or lively to drive than the GE (mind you, I have limited seat time in one). Not sure how to describe it but though steering feedback is the least noticable, you can still "feel" or mentally "know" where those wheels are pointing when chucking the GK5 around.

I'm looking forward to picking one up soon. For sure will be a manual EX... but again would rather an EX-L or Sport if it existed.

i would need to drive the MT GK to know for sure how great the car really is, but between the AT and MT GE's, it was like a totally different car. the 09 GE AT felt like just another ordinary small car (corolla or sentra something) where as my '12 GE MT feels like a Honda.

The GK on the other hand, while CVT, feels like a Honda; therefore, think the GK MT could be one kickarse hatch for sure.

Is the GK's front strut easy to access like on the GD? The GE's was a pita when i did the swifts.

my GE's dent repair is done. i finished this am... now i got a frikken farmer's tan..

I was not too disappointed with the 6 speed '15 ASM EX that we currently have on our lot. It still has that lively fun hatch feel like I've said before, despite having as much steering feedback as the prior gens. Though... gearing is CRAZY short compared to the GD and GE. 6th gear at 60 MPH was about 3k RPMs if I remember right. 4th through 6th were closely geared as well.

Regarding spring install, it'll be similar to the GE... You'll either need to reach in with an allen and ratcheting wrench OR pull the wiper cowl.

Thanks for the info. yah, close ratio is good, but i was hoping 6th would be much taller than my current 5th on the highway. oh well.

thanks on the strut removal too. thought you mentioned these cars were easier to work on than the GE's? I think I'm going to pass on the MT GK, not that there's anything wrong with the car; in a couple of years my son will start driving and will need to make room for his car.

which means i need to narrow down my cars to 2cars instead of my GE and the 2 hobby cars. i will probably get a fun-ish RWD coupe or sports sedan for my dd.

So far no other issues (problems) to report on the GK. Going to take it into the claims center tomorrow, and will start working on it latter part of this week into Saturday.

Since the car is white i need to pull it inside to do the work. can't see dents very well in sunlight. lol

btw, has Koni released the front struts for the GE? i know they had the rears for the longest time..

yah, i was looking for the front and rear yellow struts. orange is non-adjustable, i believe, and different damp rate from yellow's. they've always had the orange for the front, but no yellow's.

hey so my '12 GE is exactly 3yrs old today.

everything works perfectly. if i feel like it, i might swap out the swifts to coilovers to stiffen up the ride a little bit, maybe a roof rack. but im happy with the car the way it is for now.

picked up my insurance check to repair the GK. will start the PDR tonight, try to get 10-11 dents. then finish off the 7-8 hopefully tomorrow am before my wife take it out to work.

the dents are deeper on the GK so it might take a few pulls each. the one on the hood, probably can use my regular tools.

woah, yah, havent decided to sell the swifts just yet.


so i got most of the dents out on the GK's roof. will finish off probably tomorrow evening or sunday given weather. got like 5-6 more to go. there were so many more dents on the GK vs my GE which was parked only a few feet away.

big difference: the rigid roof due to moon roof. the impact energy has nowhere to go, but down.

btw, received a Proclip for my wife's smartphone. will install that too today.

guys, wat kind of roof rack and attachment(s) do i need to get if i want to carry large boxes and planks on the roof of my GE?

sure enough the rear right tire on the GK had a slow leak. wife took it in today get it patched up. hope this is the last of BS.
the car had low psi back the 2nd day of ownership when i measured..u know, the day it got hailed on.

i think next up, something (engine lower shroud) will fall off the car.

checked torque on the lugs the tire shop removed today to do the patch.

checked psi on all 4, looking good.

need to start planning to polish and seal the GE and GK for winter. yes, thatz right, winter is right around the corner in my book.

im going to use the blizzak on the GK one last season. i'm not sure if im going to get the GE snow tires as i dont feel like transferring the TPMS sensors. so stupid.

I need to polish/seal both our Fits.

GE has ZERO wax on the roof, no beading whatsoever
