washed da GK and GTI... mang hope it starts warming up soon. i want to wash da engine bay.. so discusting with salt in there. (still 'clean' to most folks)

i dont like washing da engine bay more dan once in the spring.. i also put my cars on ramps and wash the entire undercarriage using a lawn sprinkler. it works great.

did the GK's oil change today. the lower shroud hardware, although it being a POS, was fine and no issue taking it off or putting it all back together.

i was kinda concerned about how much salt gunk was on da block and surrounding braces on da bottom. the lower cover prevents those auto wash undercarriage sprays from penetrating anything..

i think im going to temporarily remove dat lower shroud when i do the engine bay/under carriage wash in a few weeks. it was filthy down dere..

yah, my car is kinda dirty from driving through rain today, but did a close inspection this pm as it dried off. i noticed a few very very minor dents on the roof and hood on my GTI, but not enough to pull out my tools. to da untrained eye they would go undetected as its pretty much within 2-3 orange peel bumps of the paint and shallow.

so i guess this time i lucked out. will inspect once more after i wash da car but im pretty sure its good to go. as far as my wife's GK, i didnt even bother checking. haha

Wife says da GK's TPMS came on twice coming home yesterday.
I cked psi dis am while still dark outside to get the true tire reading ..they were all within 1psi of each other. I adjusted all to 34.8 psi dis am.

Perhaps da car was facing a certain way while in the parking structure where one tire was facing da sun and the others weren't.. not sure

Btw, did u guys know I need to run 42psi on da GTI's S04's?

Super high psi, dat is what I use on my hobby cars while in hibernation..
XL rated tires low profile but not rubber bands 235/35/19's..

hey da right lip arrived yesterday. did a quick test fit and it should look nice.

i needed to do a little research on how the bumper was assembled as dere is a bottom spoiler already on the car dat covers all openings unless i take off the lower shroud andmdidnt know how much access i actually have inside the bumper to place a nut for the bolts.

should be okay.. i think. will install on the weekend weather permitting.

I place my car on ramps and use a lawn sprinkler from the back of the car and pull forward every 3-5 min to wash a new section of the undercarriage. It is very effective if u wash with the lower engine shroud off.

Alright washed da engine bays on the GTI and GK, removed the lower shroud and did an undercarriage wash.
Took da cars for a spin to dry off.

GK needs one more round of washing on da ECU looking thing near da battery..

here's wat i mean by the undercarriage wash. this pict is when i washed my STI.

I start from da back and just pull da hose up to clean the entire bottom. on the GK, do it with the lower shroud off.

worked on my GTI's front lip dis am to prep it for install this pm.

the GTI has a radiator just forward of the lower shroud opening with literally no bottom clearance to place a wrench to hold a nut, so i plan to use rivets for that section. the others should be okay to just bolt up using nuts and screws. maybe i can reach da nut from the top if i remove the grill. will see later. dont feel like removing da bumper for this.

woot, got da GTI's lip installed. looks very nice and sporty. my kids helped out too so things went by quick. 11 screws, 3 rivets, and VHB tape. thing is not coming off any time soon.
