The Official Blog from GD to GE to GK to GTI to R?
With Fram you have to look at the exact vehicle application and then also see where the box you are considering purchasing was made. They make filters in China, Korea, etc.
I have heard that, if it's an application they got right and the filter was made in one of their better facilities, you may get a good one.
That's too much work for me. I either use OEM, Mobil 1, or K&N depending on the vehicle. Our Fit has had K&N's through it's life. VW and my stinkin' are getting OEM.
The world as I know it is falling down around me. An electric car crushes the Pikes Peak record. Darn that is just so sad.
Shinjari I am no fan of Fram filters. I'd go with the Mobil 1 filter. Just my .02 since you asked.
Edit.... From what I understand Purolator, Mobil 1 & K&N are made by the same people.

+1 on kenchan
Last cabin filter I bought was a WIX for the Fit and it actually looks better made than the Honda one. For cabin filters I shop price and availability more than anything.
I've had a few friends that always went with Bosch filters. No experience with them in modern times, but they were supposed to be really good years ago.

I don't know the details, but I'm betting that electric car couldn't have done it back to back. Small consolation price?

hummm bosch filters huh? haven’t tried that yet unless the vw ones are from them. lol
well motors don’t have oxygen suffocation issues up high so dat is one major benefit, i thinks. especially for like small cars like leaf or i3. up da mountain no different vs sea level. try dat with a GK. lol

For your VW a Mann or Mahle. They are both suppliers of oem filters. I's use a Fram for a cabin filter. Dirty air is ok for me to breath, but heck no my engine only gets the best.
That electric racer sure was the ticket for high altitude. Same power all the way up as long as it still had volts in the fuel tank. That thing wouldn't last if Pikes Peak was an endurance event. When E cars have an honest 500 mile range I'll look at one. Pretty sure that won't happen in my Lifetime. You young guys may end up driving one. Me I'm all for burning dino leavings. ;-)

yah, mann/mahle dat rings a bell fosho.
yah, if i get an electric car it will be something like the sporty version of the i3 just cause its a funky looking and useless car. its more like a bicycle/scooter replacement in my mind vs a real car.
gafit- nice.. hadnt heard about the ND power bump, but only 151 ft lbs of torque.. that's like half of wat my GTI does. some douche in a new lex RX350 was being an arse trying to cut me off on da way home so i just wot the GTI to show wat 300ft lbs+ of torque looks like against his pansy-arse shit/woman car. wtf mang. he had no chance.

pissed cause my younger kid (after all this work and talk of getting rid of ants the past week, the lessons learned for him not to leave crumbs on the table, kitchen floor, around the trash can in the kitchen cabinet) i come home and his faking leftover pizza is on the counter, crumbs around the kitchen trash can with an empty bag of oreo cookies outside the trash can on the floor with crumbs still inside.
faking idiot. yes he is grounded!
but da good is i only saw one ant inside the kitchen cabinet where a few days ago i saw more dan 30 at one time around the trash can.

Kenchan arent you a Mac guy?
The GF is wanting an apple based laptop.
There is the Air, MacBook and Pro.
I'm leaning towards the Pro.
Air has older 5th gen intel processor...no USB-C/Thunderbolt and low resolution monitor. 1600x900
Macbook has 7th gen intel but very slow clock speed ~1.1ghz but high resolution screen 2300x1440. 256gb ssd
Pro has 7th gen intel 2.3ghz and higher resolution screen 2560 x 1600. But only 128gb ssd
All cost roughly ~$1k (looking at refurbished, same 1 year warranty as new). Leaning towards Pro for better processor and screen size.
Mainly for internet, real estate programs, office programs, photoshop, lightroom and mild video editing. Clearly no gaming...its a Mac for pete's sake.

hummmm.. not sure. my MBP's have been rock solid, usually i can get like 5yrs+ use no problem. i would suggest at least a factory refurb, but if you can id spend the extra and buy new and use it for a long time.
Cool. Think we are going to Apple tonight to look and make sure the MBP is the right one for her.
Back to car stuff, need to buy more clay...amazon doesnt prime my meguiars but they prime mothers...any experience/opinions on clay? I've had great results with the meguiars, but have heard good things about the mothers kit as well.

yah mother’s clay is good stuff, kinda brittle to use in the colder months but should be no issue for summer.
i use Griot’s mud aka clay as it is very soft. must use disposable gloves though as it melts in ur hands not in ur mouth..
