You tryin to steal my Fit?

I had just finished getting some groceries at Trader Joe's the other night, and while I was nearing my car, I noticed some guy walking around my car, looking like he was inspecting it.

I immediately thought the worst for some reason, either he dinged it or he lost his dog underneath it or whatever. Well, I got closer and unlocked my door and the guy stopped and looked up at me and says "Oh, is this your car?"

and i told him yea, it was. and he says "Nice car. I didn't know you could put a rack on it" in reference to my thule surf rack set up I have. . He told me he kayaked and I told him that you could store a ton of stuff on top, as well as inside, with the seat configurations.

So we got to talking, and it turned out to be a good conversation, because they currently had a Subaru Legacy wagon, and I had come from a Subaru WRX before my fit, so I was able to explain to him the differences and such. He thanked me for my time and walked away, but took one last look at the VBP Fit before going back to his car.

I wonder if he ever went out to test drive one. Maybe +1 to the Fit family?

That's all. Just wanted to share with y'all what a good lookin car y'all have, but I'm sure you already knew that.

Im sure he wasnt going to steal it. I think people need to calm down about the Fit being stolen; its not worth stealing. People admire the Fit due to its styling and small size, its going to get attention.

I still havent heard of a Fit being stolen, just that one that was wrecked on the news. All they wanted was a joy ride.

Glad it turned out to be nothing, and I don't think a thief would hang around to have a nice conversation with you about the roof rack and kayaking of all things. Sounds like an outdoorsey type w/ the Leggy looking for something more compact and economical. That was part of my reasoning as well to switch from a turbo Impreza to the Fit.

I have noticed a lot of older ppl checking out my Fit because I think they really like what they see (as far as room and style) not my mods but the fact that the car can look good, gets great mpg and is really roomy.

good to hear it was nothing...

people start stealing popular cars after about 5-6yrs after production ends.
they want your OE parts, not so much your hopups other than
easy to steal things like wheels, i suppose.

regardless, don't let your guard down just because no one in your area has
stolen Fits. yours could be the first...

You can't steal a Fit unless you bring a flatbed, or have an ECU swap in your pocket.

No code key = no start.

i park my fit directly in front of the store i work at, and i ALWAYS see people staring at it and looking in it and discussing it with their friends.

i watch it like a hawk from the store until i see them leave, haha, so i bet it's really bizarre to walk out and see that.

Haha, I thought your story was gonna be about a real theft attempt but it turned out to be a friendly conversation.
