my LegacyWgn has molding, doesn't do shit. i had to PDR my car
6 times already since ownership. (i have PDR tools and experience )

those moldings are cosmetic only. and makes it that much
harder to wax because you got another thing to go around.
i will agree, it does play on chance of where exactly the other door hits. but i've actually witnessed people hit my fit with their door/shopping cart and both times the moldings were right in the line of fire.

I was at target a few weeks ago and this lady in her big expensive SUV with her expensive sunglasses and her stupid face decided to disregard the fact that shopping carts are made of metal and that there are multiple places around the parking lot(20 feet from her car actually) where she is SUPPOSED to put her cart when she's done.

She finished putting her things in the back of her car, turned, and pushed the cart. She pushed it. Out into the middle of the parking lot aisle. It came directly for my car, even though I was standing right next to it she pushed it right at my car. I quickly stepped out, and in a rage I kicked the cart over onto it's side where it stopped. I then, furiously, looked at the lady with all kinds of ill intent. Without knowing what was going on, I barked at her in my most hateful voice something along the lines of "ARE YOU A F$#@@#$ IDIOT? CAN YOU NOT WALK 10 F@#$#!$ FEET TO PUT YOUR OWN CART UP? INSTEAD YOU THINK THAT YOU CAN F#$@# UP OTHER PEOPLE'S CARS BECAUSE YOU'RE F$$$#$ LAZY?" Then, as an example, I picked the cart up and started pushing it towards the cart dock by her car.

Obviously she thought I was going to murder her. Her eyes went wide, she fiddled for her remote entry, jumped into her car, peeled out in reverse, almost hitting the car next to her, then proceeded to floor her car straight towards the front doors of target, almost creaming a little girl and her mother.

Hopefully she'll learn to put her cart up... or someone might murder her? lol.

i use to do that, but the problem is arses will park next to your car
anyway, or drive past your car and even crash into it from time to
time.

for some reason people tend to hit things that are in the right smack
middle of the parking lot.

i just park my FitS in a reasonable spot closest to the store/restaurant.

an other thing i do is if there is a median in the lot... try parking on the es of it next to the curb. this way only one car can park next to you, also the spots tend to be a few inches bigger, so if u park right against the curb u get a few more precious inches of defence. and if im lucky enough to see a crovette or other car of the sort parked away from the main lot, i park one space away (right next to is just dick) and try to do safety in numbers... last week i was at the grocery store and parked right between a corvette and an NSX... i felt pretty safe

Yeh I hate parking in a carpark, end driving round and round trying to find a single space all on its own

This gets the misses well annoyed asking when u gonna park!!

Other people are complete ****holes! well its comes to opening their car doors and hitting the car next to them

I just do what I came for and pray the car next to mine is still there and get out quick!

It is amazing even though our Fits are much narrower than an average car, some idiots still manages to ding our cars. Last week I had to call for an EDDR (emergency door ding removal) phone call. I COULDN'T STAND TO SEE THIS DIME SIZE DENT! I know folks tells me I'm a bit anal, but any one who cares enough about their NEW car would be too! My approach to this dilema, listen to your instinct when you think there's a chance of a door ding and don't park it. I try to park at the end of an isle. Park as far as you can at the end of an isle even. Lazy people who hates to walk far and who doesn't care about their cars usually parks closer to the place they're going. Careful to park near handicapped parking spaces too!

I usually find pretty good sized spots over here in Bloomfield, West Hartford and New Britain where I go to school. CCSU spots are huge unless you're in the bottom levels of the Student Center garage or Copernicus.

Dings are the worst. And people who don't care about cars don't get it either.

There are too many people who for them, their cars are just another appliance, like the fridge or dryer. For us, it's a passion. And they will never get it.

I have two dings. The one on the driver's door kills me. Because I know who did it. I know when it happened. And I know why. One of my clients brought her mother to my office, and her mother let her hideous Rescue Yellow Chevy Avalanche door fly into mine. Only about a month after purchase. The dimple isn't that big, but the scrape is a perfect match for the Avalanche cladding.

And I HATE Avalanches. Stupidest POS Chevy ever made.

The other one is on driver's side rear door.

What amazes me is that my wife's '02 Accord was able to go two years before it's first ding. Now it has a bunch, but those first two years were like bliss, and a good laugh for my wife every time we would walk out of a mall, store, restaurant, etc into the parking lot, and I'd check both sides, and turn into Joe Permasmile for a while because it was still ding-free.

I try to park along curb sides at any chance I can get...even if I have to walk for a min or 2 to get inside. I also use my side mirror to see how far I am to avoid curb rash on my rims. The only thing ill ever have to worry about is someone bumping into my bumper.
