missing plastic panel on all US cars?

So 2 weeks ago I take delivery of my Fit, and at home I'm going over it more carefully that night. There appeared to be a missing plastic finisher/shroud like panel along the head light on the right side (passenger). There is one on the left side, and the holes are all there on the right side in the same place, but no finisher. the one that is there (left side) is black plastic, and is maybe a foot long or so, and 2+ inches wide. Looks like it keeps air or water from getting around the headlight and under the hood.

Dealer says a right one does not exist. Looked at the Fit on the show room floor, and it's not there. hondaautomotiveparts.com lists a left one, but not right. Appears that it's not there for 2007 or 2008 USDM cars (and maybe non-US too?)

Looks to me like it was designed to have one. Maybe it only goes on the drivers side, but then why put the holes on the passenger side? Dad thinks maybe the holes are there for Right hand drive cars (opposite of US) Does anyone that has a UK, Autrailian, or JDM car have a panel on only the right side (Drivers side in those countries). If so, I might want to get one just so it looks balanced.

I took mine off when I was installing the strut bar. I think it's there to keep water from going into the intake snorkel.

Does anyone have a photo of the panel you got that are missing on the other side? I'm not sure what panel you are refering to. But then again I have not looked TOO much into the engine room at all on my car

Is it visible on this photo somewhere?

Looks like your car doesn't have it either. the support for the hood on your car is right where this part would be. On the US cars, the hood support goes from the left front by the bumper up to the left front corner of the hood. If UK/Autralian/JDM cars have the support the same place too, then that mystery right side panel never got made for any market. Interesting.

well if we look at civic's from 88-2000 we could probably find a lot of unused holes because the chassis was made to accomodate a great variety of engines and setups. That is also what makes them so fun to mod as cross plateform engines and other bits can be made to work quite easily.

I agree with your dad's theory.

I only have one on the drivers side too. That's the way it is supposed to be!
