Atten: Potential Buyers 08 vs 09
The pictures of the US 09 show that feature, so I'm pretty sure we'll be getting it.
Great info on '09s
Great info, all. I just joined this forum, all I have seen / read just reinforces the opinion I had when I looked at one, last week. I want one!
About the '09 models, it looks like the windsheild grew a few more inches back into the roof. My wife has an Odessey, and when driving in bright sun, the glare really bothers me. Of course the glass can be tinted. Have to wait and see how much light gets in.
A real dedicated group here, thanks.

holy crap. my favorite 1st gen color too...
I can deal with the nose because of the improvements overall internally. I was so close to getting the Fit 08 but things didn't work out. I was gonna get it in a couple weeks but I have now decided to wait and get the 09. Can't wait!
the lack of pink is ok. too much jdm flair is not always a good thing.
but the green and especially the yellow would have been perfect.
there is a guy here that painted his fit green and it looks soooo good. I believe his name is something like "phillips" or something similar. he has pic in his sig.
Vsa
I just noticed a change in the 2009 Honda Fit site: VSA is now listed as a standard safety feature!?
Am I the last to notice this as I thought VSA was packaged as an option with the Nav system.
Beyond Efficient Safety
Am I the last to notice this as I thought VSA was packaged as an option with the Nav system. Beyond Efficient Safety
- Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure
- Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®)
- Active head restraints
- Dual-stage, dual-threshold front airbags
- Front-side airbags with passenger-side Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS)
- Side-curtain airbags
- Anti-lock braking system (ABS)
- Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD)
That's what I'm wanting too, but we're in the process of selling our house and moving, so I'm going to have to wait until we buy a new house to get a fit. Damnit!!!
Europe receives the second generation Honda Jazz (Fit here) - CleanMPG Forums
Safety
Safety upgrades in the second generation Jazz includes the recently introduced Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure, active front seat head restraints and VSA. Larger wheels, revised suspension and a longer wheelbase/wider track bring greater agility while enhancing ride comfort. And new 89 HP, 1.2-litre and 99 HP 1.4-litre i-VTEC engines deliver better performance characteristics while boosting fuel economy to exceptional levels – 46.1 mpgUS (5-speed MT) and 46.1/44.4 mpgUS (6-speed DSG/5-speed MT) combined, respectively.
Looks like we may get VSA on all 09s.

I noticed the same thing too. If it really is standard that would be awesome!
I'm down for a 09 ASAP. I loved the 08 model for 4200 miles, but sorry to say it was totaled in an accident (not my fault) on the freeway. That front-end crumple zone did its job as did the seatbelts and airbags. All four of us and the dog walked away fine. I'm looking forward to the extra size and better mileage. Just before crash, I was getting 40 mpg on part highway and city with a 2800 foot elevation change in 8 miles. I'm doing some coasting, but nothing weird.

I was on an LA freeway with about 6 lanes doing the speed limit when there was one of these sudden slow-downs. There was a black car in front of me. I was breaking rapidly but had enough room to stop and I checked my rearview mirror to see what would happen next. Someone was coming in fast from behind and just as I looked back to the front, CRASH and the airbags went off. The smoke from the airbags made it impossible to see anything, so I didn't know for two weeks when the highway patrol called me again, that I had hit a silver car. The silver car had cut in at the last moment leaving me no room to stop. I might have been doing 30 - 35 mph at the point of contact. The front end was crunched and the front airbags went off. The bumper was off the car and things were pushed in. The hood and front quarter panels were all bent, but the doors and glass and roof and all the rest were fine. Some minor damage in the rear, but nothing big. Didn't get hit very hard in the back. The horn was going off and the motor would still start.
I sprained my thumb and sternoclavicular joint (I think that is right, the sternum) with a few seatbelt bruises. My wife had some bruises and the kids in the back were fine.
I bought it with safety in mind and I'm going to buy another. Had I been in my full size van, things would have been different altogether. Putting the van in the same place at the same time, well I probably wouldn't have been able to slow as fast as I did and the van would have done some serious damage to anybody in front of me. If one doesn't leave room in front, then one is likely to rear-end the car in front and if one does leave room, then someone else cuts in. No winning on those damn freeways. I hate big city driving and next time it is the airbus to LAX.
