Question 2009 buying question

hello folks,
I am new to the Forum but highly motivated to purchase a 2009 FIT as soon as they hit the showroom. I would appreciate any guidance/ resources available to help me get the best price with the dealerships here in Phoenix,AZ.
- should I get on a early sign up list with a dealer?
- is working with the Dealerships' Internet dept better?
- do you think Honda is going to sell these below MSRP plus offer incentives/manufacturers rebates?
- I 'll love to hear sound advice about the topic and it looks like there are many of you who are very knowledgable about this.
Thanks folks!!

every dealer is different but with only 80k made for the year you won't see any incetives from Honda. Demand rules all as far as pricing, if gas is high and they are selling out, probably not. It is a fairly inexpensive car with very little markup so getting a lot off would be unlikely.

You should just amke sure you get the color and trim you want first. Good Luck.

Yes... 90% of the time you don`t have to deal with all of the BS... but then again there`s that other 10%

I'm sure there will be a relax mode. If my wife's prius has a relax mode, then surely the new fit will.

Scroll down to about halfway down the page and you will see what blackberry pearl is. It's actually purpley-blue, unlike black, which is...black.

I have to say I really like the Orange Revolution Metallic! If I was buying a 2009, I would have a tough time deciding between ORM and TW. (Am I the first to use the acronym "ORM") haha :P

The 2nd gens will definetly be a hit! I like the look of the 2nd gens...but my initial reaction when I saw the 1st get Fit in Apr 2006 was much more positive.

I plan on keeping my '08 for several years...so who knows, I might get one of the last 2nd gen Fits...perhaps the rumored Hybrid Fit in 2015.

colors:
Milano red (MR)
Nighthawk black Pearl NHBP)
Silverstorm Metallic (SSM)
Vivid Blue Pearl (VBP)
Tidewater Blue Metallic (TWB)
Blackberry Pearl (BBP) sport only
Blaze Orange Metallic (BOM) Sport only.

Prices: MSRP without transportation fee ($670)
BASE MT: $13,950
BASE AT: $14,750
Sport MT: $15,270
Sport AT: $16,070
Good luck getting these prices...

The prices with transportation are
BASE MT $14,620
BASE AT $15420
SPORT MT $15940
SPORT AT $16740
These are the base numbers on the MSRP. Demand is slacking a bit so you have a better chance at MSRP. We've too many customers not realizing the msrp INCLUDES SHIPPING AND THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED TO STOP CUSTOMER IRRITATION JUST WHEN ITS LEAST WANTED; AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SALE.

How the 09 is different:

i-vtec
maf sensor
120 hp AND TORQUE?
10 cup holders
Dead pedal
Armrest
second glove box (for ipod)
"secret" compartment under rear seats.
smaller rear seat head rests.
no spare tire (RUMOR) The Japanese one does not have one: Honda Worldwide | October 18, 2007 "Honda to Begin Sales of the All-New Fit in Japan" somewhere in the middle
Navigation Option
USB jack (AUX is still there)
Steering wheel mounted controls
Windshield pulled forward 4inchs

Available Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) (Official 09 makes it look standard, not just "available")

Enhanced Suspension Calibration improves straight-line stability & handling with less understeer than before.

Badly needed ! But is it due to increased rear weight?

New power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering with a revised rack to reduce steering effort a low speed. As speed rises, the power-assist gradually increases steering effort to a more reassuring level.

Reengineered chassis improves structural rigidity by 164 percent

Tilt-and-Telescoping Steering Wheel

Two vertically mounted stiffeners positioned inside the D-pillar above the rear springs work in conjunction with the other rear modifications to bring the rear end around quicker and flatter

In other words: less understeer, badly needed. See above.

New supportive sport seats built around larger full-size frame

And is generally bigger:

Wheelbase has been increased 2 inches to 98.4 inches (base-15" sport 16")
Overall Length goes up 2.2 inches to 153.5 inches.
Overall Width is 0.8 inch wider
Front Track is 1.4 inches wider great!
Rear Track is 1.2 inches wider great too!
Larger Front Bushings
Torsion-Beam setup has gained another 0.8 inch in travel

Weight? SAE lists an increase of nearly 200 lb. and Honda says?

That 200 lb weighs heavily on the meager increase in torque. Unless transmission gears change expect the 09 to be slower and get slightly less less mpg than 08 regardless of the EPA numbers..

Where are you seeing SAE says a 200lb increase? We saw that on a few of the older articles on the 09, but most are saying ~20lbs now. Do you have a link or anything where we can check it? Thanks!

Sorry, but the info came from SAE Journal. Unless you are SAE member no access. And it was a couple of months ago.

But it stands to reason the extra space didn't come free. Only 20 lb would be a monumental redesign. Just the extra frame and axle would add 100 lb. But thats why I'm looking for official data too. Its important to know the truth.
Worse, I got different MSRP too. Not by much but different. I'm not in the market to buy 09's but a lot of others are and waiting for 09's is not necessarily a good thing.

First Drive: 2009 Honda Fit

The wheelbase has been increased 2 inches to 98.4 inches, while the overall length goes up 2.2 inches to 153.5 inches. The Fit is also 0.8 inch wider, while the front track is 1.4 inches wider and the rear track is 1.2 inches wider. It's surprising that the overall weight gain is a meager 22 pounds.

2009 Honda Fit Review, Prices, Photos: New Car Test Drive

Despite a slight increase in size, the new Fit only weighs a few pounds more and even with an increase in power it is expected to deliver better fuel economy, an impressive achievement.

So it's going to be heavier, slower, and less efficient??? Maybe I can apply that non-refundable deposit I have on an 09 Fit to a Civic.

There have been numerous statements in the news about only a 22 lb increase including reference to the increased use of high strength steel to reduce wt. I'm sure a major objective in the design of the 2nd generation Fit would be weight reduction. A 200 lb increase doesn't make sense!
