A co-worker said to me the other day "I can't hardly pick up a magazine without seeing something written about how great the Honda Fit is. You really got the jump on that, didn't you?"
Since most press mentioning the Fit is positive, not too many people will be mocking our cars.
They're just jealous!

It doesn't matter what others say. You like it, get it. You got it, don't think about it. Enjoy your car.
I like the fit so much. I brought it without test drive.

I Have Owned A 911, Boxster S, S2000, BMW M3 Among Others

Unless your a wealthy person or can write off your gas and car then the FIT is now the perfect car for me. I have owned so many "high end" sports cars and lost so much money it makes me sick.
This Honda Fit is truly a car that is PERFECT for a performance oriented person that understands todays reality. I run about 30K annually. If I owned any high performance car these days I could not do the things I love to do. I go to Disney World or Universal from Tampa almost every weekend, many times on both Saturday and Sunday. The cost of gas would not permit me to have season passes for all the parks and to have enough cash to Jet Ski on other weekends.
Point is that this car has it all for the future. Europe has been paying extremely high prices for 20 years. Guess what? With India and China becoming major players in the search for petroleum we will soon be just like europe.
The Fit gives me the "entertainment" of a BEAUTIFUL" 5 speed (very similar to the S2000) yet gives me 35MPG PLUS. Frankly until Toyota comes out with a competitor I foresee me buying a Fit for the next 5 years or so.

Your reference to Europe resonates with me: even 5 years ago when I was there, I was struck by the tiny cars in London and Paris. Daily on my 50-mile round trip highway commute to work in the Chicago area, I am tailed by macho drivers in their massive vehicles riding the ass of my Accord coupe. I know it will only be worse with the Fit, but I find solace in the fact that the American auto industry is going down the drain until it retrofits its cars to Fit-like status. With two kids in college, I, too, have other ways to spend my $ than on a car. It's ironic that the title of this topic concerns "defending" a choice that now seems so logical....

I haven't had anyone hound me about the Fit. I have an EK with an Integra Type-R motor if they want to race

When I've been getting close to 37 mpg in mixed highway/city driving and steep hills, and it is SO fun to take on the curves, I find little reason to complain.

And then, when someone can't haul their big flat screen TV in their $35,000 sedan, and they come crawling to me with my magic seat, well I don't rub it in.
