Just saw on IN Network that the first orders of US Fits are going to start with "JHMG" on the VIN. That means they're from Japan (For those that don't know, the "J" at the begining of the VIN denotes a Japan-assembled car). Future orders may be built in the US, but we'll have to see.

Well all I care about is that mine is from the Mother Land Baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

My dealer is saying my car will be built on March 23rd- then she's probably on a ship in the middle of the Pacific, who knows maybe dropping the first ones off to Hawaii before arriving in Long Beach, California (which I believe is the port of entry on the sticker. Can anyone confirm this is still the port of entry for all Honda's from Japan?

BTW, she says mid-April for delivery, which means as early as possibly the 12th? latest as the 20th?

 

where at on IN, i didn't see anything other then teh pricing, which was a few days ago, and then the update on Innovation, which hasn't said much in months, lol.

Hey i just checked our incoming, we're getting 3 of them, all 3 are made in japan, looks like 1 base model in red, and 2 sports, one in black and one in red, damn i can't wait till we get them, cause i will be test driving it and buying one later in the year when we start to drop pricing more.

 

Yeah, that's definitely a selling point and one of the reasons I want one right away. Made in japan. It's just better in my book. My 91 Toyota 2wd truck was from Japan and we've had a very good relationship.

Plus it brings a smile to my face that I'm shafting the UAW just one more time.

 

Made in Japan does sound more promising

 

What would you do if they offered

1 - Fit built in China / Thailand BUT comes with rear discs
2 - Japan built with drum brakes

Which would you choose?

the built quality from Japan is just really really that good........better......or even, best.

 

I wish it was being offered with Rear Disc... God Honda it would have been even more amazing

 

Well, this is not the first time that Honda is doing something like this. I will still prefer Japanese made ones. I don't mean Thailand made is bad but I have compared US, Canadian and Japanese made and JDM is definitely better.

 

How long will they be built in Japan? The first few months, first model year?

 

It's hard to tell. Honda isn't well known for sharing information with people. We'll just have to watch the incoming VIN numbers and see. When the new Civics came out, the first few batches came from Japan. Now they're made in the US and Canada.
