Gas mileage

What kind of gas mileage (or kilometerage) are people getting with their fits?

Please indicate transmission type, percent highway/city, and highway speed.

Thanks - I am curious to see how the Fit does compared to its EPA numbers. Some cars barely get the highway figure, and others are way over.

car and driver said 35mpg observed. Edmund's said 32.

I too want to know numbers, especially auto's since both are manual's numbers.

33.4 is pretty good for all city driving. Nevertheless it should improve as it breaks in - maybe a couple more mpg.

I was laid up today with back trouble, and did some geeking on my laptop. If anyone's interested in an excel spreadsheet to keep track of mpg and total fuel cost, PM me with your email address.

My first full tank of gas. I have covered 310 miles so far and have a 1/3 of a tank left. The tank should hold about 10.8 US gallons. I have kept it mostly under 3200 rpm and it has been mostly highway driving. We will see where it goes. I hope to get at least 400+ miles from a tank of gas.

If you look at the Canadian estimated fuel consumption (according to the 2006 guidelines):

All manual models: 7.3 L /100kms (32.2 US MPG) city, 5.8 L /100kms (40.5 US MPG) highway.
non Sport auto models: 7.8 L /100kms (30.1 US MPG) city, 5.6 L /100kms (42.0 US MPG) highway.
Sport auto models: 8.0 L /100kms (29.4 US MPG) city, 5.6 L /100kms (42.0 US MPG) highway.

I used this site: http://www.tdiclub.com/misc/conversions.html

Just remember that the EPA estimates aren't 100% accurate.

Do you know what the Canadian test methods are? Are they overly optimistic like the EPA ones? How do "real-world" numbers for Canadian cars stack up against the government estimates in general?

First tank cost me just over $26 @ 9.3 gallons. Got 34.7 mpg..."low light" came on 10 miles from the station. So...one's got about a gallon and a half when it comes on?!?!?!

I got 33.5.
Highway and local. ( have not gone past 65, though)
Very pleased. If this keeps up, I save some money.

I wonder what the halfway point and Empty point on the gauge is in terms of gallons? I've driven a couple cars that hid a gallon or two below the E, so you wouldn't ever actually run out of gas.

I got about 34 MPG of highway driving the other day. I drove about 170 miles on less than half the tank. I kept the speed fairly consistent around 60-65 mph; first time I've done the drive without cruise control in a car, but the accelerator is light enough that your foot will keep the speed just right.

here's a question: how can the sport and base get the same mileage when the sport has wider tires? all things being equal (and aren't they in this case?) the base should do a little better, right?

Maybe the difference is slight enough that it doesn't show up after rounding?

If 2 cars have the same engine and tranny they can share EPA results if they are withing 500 lbs of each other. GM even does this between makes (buick and pontiac share numbers etc.)

1st tank - 278 miles (still showing 1/4 tank), 7.68 gallons (topped it off) = 36 mpg!

Mixed city/highway driving, A/C part of the time...

I'm quite pleased!

Thanks for sharing all your MPG figures, everybody! tnfit, what model (Base or Sport) and transmission were you driving that delivered 36 MPG?

supposedly the seet spot is about 50 mph due to wind resistance although obviously gearing and aeirodynamics can mitigate.

35 mpg again! Amazing: it spins at 4000 RPMs / 80 MPH and still delivers 35 MPG.
