I'll take maneuverability and being a small target any day. Whenever it snows in Atlanta, I am astonished by the number of SUVs I see in ditches or in the trees alongside the highway. I realize that the main problem exists between the seat and the steering wheel, but I can't say I have felt any safer the few times I have ridden in a large, ill-handling vehicle.

Find me a car you'd feel safe driving into a wall at 80mph in. Just don't get into head on collisions! I don't know where this delusion comes from that a car is supposed to be able to protect you from something like that!

The Fit gets 5 star ratings from safercar.gov and the best ratings from the IIHS. A hummer H3 only gets "acceptable" from the IIHS and an average rollover rating from Safercar.

It's popular to claim small cars are unsafe, but I bet more people die from rollovers in SUVs than head-on collisions while driving small cars.

Chill.

Fit vs full size sedan, Fit loses.
Sedan vs SUV, sedan loses.
SUV vs semi, semi loses.
Semi vs locomotive, semi loses.

It's all relative. Check out this set of photos of what happens when a Caterpillar D8 dozer has an encounter with a 100 m tall excavator.

How I got my Dozer Back

yea, whatever. only 640lbs weight difference.

take your worry somewhere else and stop feeding into the sensationalistic approach of the media. i separate the idiots in society by how much people believe what they hear from the media outlets.
