How long 'til delivery?

My dealer called to let me know they now show my car as being at the port (Baltimore) since the 17th.

I know they've been doing some funky holdbacks, to keep the dealer delivery to as close as the 20th as possible, but how long is it usually between "at the port" and "on the dealer's lot"?

The dealer DOES have a Vivid Blue base manual on hand right now, that I'll be going by after work to test drive. They haven't even done the pre-delivery inspection on it, yet.

It depends really. Some manufacturers have been known to hold their newest models at the port until a day before the official release day. Honda doesn't seem to be doing this with the Fit and has opted to do a soft launch instead. You're probably getting yours very soon now. Congrats.

Test drive

I drove a sport today-can't decide on ( blue or red. guess my wife will decide. Now I need to sell my civic hybrid as I like the hatch too.

My car is probably sitting right next to yours. I was told the same thing by dealer in Manassas on Monday. Where in Virginia are you? Baltimore is only about 1 1/2 hrs. from here. My guess is we'll get a call tomorrow - the official release date. If I don't, I may be tempted to go to Baltimore and find it. But with my luck, I'd pass the truck with my car on it going the other way!

I'm just west of Richmond, in Powhatan ... so south of you.

The dealer is telling me "end of month... beginning of May" - WHAT?!?!?

That's why I'm trying to figure out how long it takes for it to be released from the port once it gets there, and trucked on down to the dealership.

I hope to heck the dealer is just trying to manage expectations by pushing out the date, and that it will really be in by the weekend.
