Sport Security System

What is the sport security system. I read that it was NOT
an alarm. Does it sound the horn?

Well, it seems like our 05 CR-V has a similar setup. The key fob can lock and unlock the doors/hatch. It is RF. When you lock the car, the lights flash; lock twice the lights flash and the horn beeps.

However, there is no siren. So if someone smashes the window, manually opens the door and lock, the car wil do nothing.

The immobilizer is on all Fits. Thats just related to the special key.

It looks like it's both models have the Immobilizer Theft System, but the Sport adds the Security system with remote entry.

I'm sure it just honks the horn if I'm not mistaken. We didn't mess with it when I test drove the car.

Who reacts to those damn alarms anyway? I was thinking about having an aftermarket paging alarm installed. Between the immobilizer and the pager no one is leaving with my car and if they are doing a smash-n-grab; well, nothing is going to stop them anyway.

Well, a "panic button" feature will continually honk the horn and flash the lights. I dont have a Fit, so I dont know if the keyfob has a "panic button".

The second lock horn beep confirmation isnt a panic button; it's just to confirm that yes, you actually locked the car.

Is it true that if you get an aftermarket alarm on the sport fit, that it'll void the warranty?

I think I'm going to just replace it with the Viper system so I can also have the Remote Start added too...

It's not true. If the problem is unrelated to the aftermarket alarm, then it has to be covered by the Honda warranty. The dealer may try to scare you, but dont let them.

Taken from collegehillshonda.com website. Not much to it.

Not the case with Fit Sport. You only need to lock the doors with the remote, and 15 seconds later the alarm will arm itself. Once armed, it will sound the horn and flash the lights if the doors are opened without disarming it. I tested it by rolling down the windows, then locking the doors. After 15 seconds, I opened the door and the horn started honking and the lights started flashing.

My Odyssey, like your CRV, needed to be "locked twice" to arm it's alarm, but the Fit Sport arms after being locked for 15 seconds.

The lack of a glass break sensor is a big problem. With the size of the Fit, a smash and grab won’t be hard without opening the doors.

Even on the Sport it is still only an option. My dealer, of course, installed it but I had them remove it because I think I can do it cheaper than the 400 they wanted.

^ It says on the Honda Fit site "Security system with remote entry" for the Sport model, unless you're referring to the glass-break/shock sensor.

Well now I'm not quite sure what the dealer was trying to sell me. I did the test listed above and yep, its got an alarm. Maybe it was a shock sensor they were selling . I'm glad I didn't pay for it. I'll never have much of a stereo or anything that will attract thieves, other than the car itself. But I am thinking I'll LoJack the car and call it good.

Since the car has an immobilizer, they're not going to get the car started without a key with the right chip anyway, so I personally wouldn't worry about getting a LoJack.

Does anone know if there is a way to even bypass an immobilizer system?

They sold me an alarm system.

I still haven't taken the car back to have it installed - left a message asking about a refund...
The system they were going to install comes with $2000 no questions insurance though - ANYONE breaks into the car, you get a check for 2 grand. I may just... I dunno... keep it?

Whatever... they charged me $600 for it.
Rip off? Yeah...
But what can you do?

I'm planning on going in and complaining about the gas mileage soon.
I'll talk to them about the alarm then.

OH!
The alarm goes off if you manually unlock the doors too.

Sure... I can see breaking a window to grab something - but seriously - why wouldn't you break a window then unlock/open the door? It doesn't make sense really - so it SHOULD go off.

Again - whose really gonna pay attention to a honking vehical though? :blink

Ok...

Whoever posted that thing where if a door's not closed it beeps 3 times made me look stupid today.

It doesn't...

And when I went in to complain about the gas mileage... and they blew me off... I figured I'd bring it up.

In the quick start manual it just says you won't be able to lock the doors if one of them (or the tailgate) aren't shut completely.

It only beeps AFTER you lock the doors if you press the lock button again within 5 seconds.
Or if you hit the panic button.
Or if you let it sit for a few seconds, then pull up the lock thingy manually.
Or... theoretically open the door (but it's locked... and unlocking it without using a key or the button makes the alarm go of... so I dunno how that one actually works....)
The alarm doesn't arm if you don't lock the doors... so........

The way I see it, if a thief wants it bad enough they'll take it even if its on the back of a flatbed with the alarm horn beeping as they drive away with it. At least with LoJack you have a chance of getting it back. With the immobilizer that will keep the majority of thieves from driving it away, of course the lowlifes will vandalize it nice for us for not letting them take our stuff.
