The classy thing to do would be to have so much confidence in your product that you invite the girl to compare the XA to the Fit and you'll see her back at your dealership after she has made her decision. If you really think the Fit would win the comparison, and she would suffer severe regrets as I know she would about her XA purchase (I've compared). You have made her suffer and caused her pain so you could make a quick 200.00 that will be gone quickly in your life, but she will have to suffer for years with her decision. Granted, that was her fault, but she came close to being informed, and you stopped what would have been best for her to make really not that much money.
If I were a Honda Saleswoman, I would have no problem with another customer suggesting the XA to my Fit customer. As a mtter of fact I would probably have already suggested it to them in the first place. I have so much confidence in the Fit, I would have told them myself to go compare and I'll see you back here in awhile. By the salesman's reaction, he obviously knew the Fit was a superior product, and would have lost the sale had his customer compared. He would be more comfortable and less insecure if he were in Honda sales I suspect.

Jesus,
I have so many reasons to attack you right now, that I don't even know where to begin. Think about what you just did to the Toyota salesperson - you took the $140 that he MADE on the sale and threw it out the window. Secondly, both the Fit and the xA/Yaris (liftback) are in the same class, but NOTICE THEIR PRICE DIFFERENCE. The Fit is priced higher than the xA/Yaris, so it wouldn't be suprising that they're "a better car," but keep in mind that you are spending more.
Invoice numbers:
Scion xA in automatic: $13,440

Yaris liftback: $11,718

Fit base auto: $14,586

Notice the price difference?
If someone wants a car that's cheap and reliable, but they don't care about safety, then why pay more for the Fit, which has all the airbags standard?
Secondly, who do you think you are, trying to get salespeople fired? You go into Toyota with a negative attitude, trolling through their showroom, telling their customers to check out their competitors. I don't understand why you are helping someone out, just by telling them about a car that they've never seen before. She could have been happy with a Scion. You don't think the managers would have kicked you out if you complaint? I do. How can you guarentee that the manager would apologize? Sure, maybe he might.. but imagine how bad of a beat down you'll receive the second you leave the showroom.
Thirdly, in your opinion, the Fit is twice the car the xA is? Your opinion doesn't mean anything, really.
We, Honda dealers, don't need you to help us sell our Fits. We are doing very well.
