2007 Fit lost its front engine shield and right & Left splash guards
Recently, my 2007 Honda Fit lost its front engine shield, which is this huge sheet of plastic at the bottom of the car that holds the fender in place and protects the engine from debris & water. I also lost the right and left splash guards, which go from the front engine shield, over the tire, and down the sides of the car.
I went to the dealership, and the repairman told me it would cost 460$ to replace all of these parts. That's a bit more than my family can afford at the moment. We have a baby, a lot of medical bills and are struggling to make ends meet. The dealership guy said it was important to replace the part because it protects the longevity of the engine, but my question to you all is: exactly how necessary is this part? Is it really important that it gets replaced ASAP, or is the dealership just trying to make money off a woman who knows nothing about cars? Is $460 a ripoff, and can I get a better deal elsewhere?

sounds pretty steep but i never checked price on the engine shield. unless you have alot of mud or dirt/sand in your area i wouldnt worry too much right now. Of course you'll want to get it eventually but its not urgent. (in my opinion)

i think what you need mainly is #7, both the inner liners #5 and the other side.. 400 sounds kinda high but with the labor costs maybe it's right. I'd say take it to a independant shop, possibly a collision center since they'd work on things like that more and get a quote from them.

i would definitely recommend getting the wheel wells but the engine cover is more for aero dynamics so not as critical unless you do a lot of hwy driving and need high mpg.
the thing is though, the wheel well attaches to the front part of the engine cover area so it might flap a little bit if you dont have the cover.
