I want an F'n Fit!
Ive been talking to people that I know have a lot of car buying experience to get opinions on my situation. I have a bit of a dilemma on whether I should buy used (have one picked out basically) or buy new?
When I was talking to my parents they were saying that I should consider buying new rather than used because "what's a couple grand more to get a new car rather than used"...
One of the guys I work with said that I should buy new rather than used because he bought a car in the past that seemed to be ok but I guess it had problems so he'll only buy new cars now.
Anyone with their personal experiences would be greatly appreciated.
I'm basically stuck between a rock and a hard place.

A couple grand's difference will get you some good mods. Look for a used Fit with around less than 60K miles (it will still have powertrain warranty) for about $14-15K for a GE8, but will still likely have 3/4ths of its life left. The first couple of years depreciation on a car is the worst so it's best to let someone else take the hit.
If you go used at a dealership, they'll often try to sell you a warranty. What's the difference between a new car with a 30,000 mile/3yr warranty and a used one with a 60,000 mile/5yr? In my case, about $4G.
The other part of the problem is GE8 v. GD3... That will never be solved on this site lol
I was just curious about what other people thought about it.
Btw, I may have some pictures to post tomorrow.

If you want a GD3 then I guess used will be your choice.
When I first started looking at Fits a couple years ago, I saw one in the local Carmax showroom. The price seemed fair, but I went online and it was more than MRSP for new! I emailed carmax to point out their mistake and they emailed me back saying the car had already sold.
Shop and negotiate carefully.
Used looks pretty good. link for 09 sport auto for $14K asking price. New I think they were selling for about $16,500. $2,500 discount for only 6k miles, clean carfax, factory warranty; why not?
My "new" Fit already has multiple windshield chips and scratches. They don't stay new long.

I'm glad i found a used fit for $6000 with 32,000 km. Problems yes? i've replaced vtec solenoid sensor and oil pan altogether about 400 dollars new parts. The moral of story is that don't limit your self buying from dealers only there's places like junk yards that sells cars that's what i got my car, there sure hidden treasures in this places. I wasn't really buying a car at that time its just timing that i saw this car so cheap. and the good part i don't have to pay dealers fee!!!
Fit
I see that you are having second thoughts about buying a used car. As a seller, I am selling my car that still has factory warranty on the powertrain. It has all maintenance records from day one and everything that I have done to the car has receipts and warranty. I highly recommend that you bring a mechanic/friend who is highly mechanically inclined to check the car so you know for sure that it is in good condition. Looking and knowing what a used cars condition is totally different.
nope, not that at all. ive just been talking to people about it and getting different opinions, and just wondered what other people thought about it. make sure to bring the wife so you have a ride home lol

B*stards...I called all over the south trying to find a BBP Sport Auto. I ended up with a slightly used one (1,000 miles) and I was happy to get it. I had to have it shipped from St. Louis. I swear to God, there were NO BBP Sport Autos left anywhere! They weren't making any more by the time I was ready to buy and knew what color I wanted. With a Honda, used is not going to be an issue as long as the car hasn't been driven into the ground. Around here, the average mileage is 20,000 a year, so that adds up. Where you are, it might be a lot less.
There are some new features with the 2009s that I would enjoy, IF I could bear the look of it. The styling is just too radically different - to me it's a whole 'nother car and not just a restyle. And it's a style I greatly dislike. YMMV.
It is understandable though. When I use to buy used cars, I use to bring my friend(mechanic) to check the car. I wouldn't buy a used car especially without some type of warranty.
New or used it just depend on how much you can spend and how long you keep the car. If you tend to trade in after a few years then go used. I bought mine new since I knew I wanted to keep it for as long as possible.
At the time used Fits cost as much if not more then a new one so it was easy to go new.

well i plan on keeping the car for a long time. ive wanted one for like 3 years so if i dont keep it for at least that long im going to shoot myself in the foot (literally).. not really.
but anyways.
im really glad that so many people put their input in this thread. most of the threads ive started in the past had like less than a full page lol.
