My Fit is nearly perfect. I bought the base model because the "ground effects" body parts would have been ripped off the first trip up my road and the spoiler would interfere with my bike rack. Besides, I think they look stupid. I wish the Sport parts like radio and cruise control were available on the Base model. My dealer says $1385 (!) to swap out the radio.

The only things that really bother me are having no front map lights and no armrest. Other than that I have no complaints.

SHAME ON YOU!, beer should be held by a designated passsenger. if no such volunteer (fellow drinker) is available, you gotta hold that in your lap or something.

AJ-Racing.com is developing a rear disc conversion, i will be getting this...

With almost 800 miles on mine, my only complaints are that I can't find a really comfortable driving position (but I'm getting closer, though I think at the best position, the pedals will be a little closer than I'd like), and the darkness of the interior at night. I'm definitely going to look into adding some LEDs inside, like over the cupholders.

I also wish I could adjust VTEC to engage a couple hundred rpm higher so I can cruise at 70-74 and not be sucking down the extra gas. I haven't broken 31mpg (5speed Sport), and I drive 70% freeway.

The single biggest item/characteristic I wish the Fit had was a telescoping steering wheel like my Focus. Being a little tall, to adjust the seat for leg room, the steering wheel feels a little too far away for my comfort. But, I don't drive the car that much (wife and daughter do...they're 8-12 inches shorter than me).

I love my Fit but I do have some peeves;

In the morning when the side windows have dampness/condensation on them, lowering the side windows does not clean them off - never had a car that this
did not work on???

Seats need better lateral support - butt slides in faster corners.

Keyless locking - I have to wait until everyone gets out of the car and the doors are all closed before I can lock the car - pain in ass.

Are these just my problems or does anyone have these or solutions to them?

this never worked on any car I've ever owned... all 4 of them.

eat more McD's. But try getting a foot rest first... you can wedge your self in your seat... if you are going that fast.

Keyless locking - I have to wait until everyone gets out of the car and the doors are all closed before I can lock the car - pain in ass.

Seems like a good feature to prevent locking your keys in your car. Your keyless has a line of sight range of over 50 feet. Even 10 feet away you can hit the button twice and have it beep as you walk away. (if it doesn't beep, its not locked.) But you could always disable the door sensors to read as always closed, except the drive's door... but then the interior lights wouldn't work properly... or the door sensors.

Thanks for the info Smiley.
The main one that annoys me the most is the windows - I have had over 15 different model cars/trucks and all of their side windows could be wiped by lowering the windows - weird. Isn't that what the rubber strips by the glass is supposed to do?

I've been able to wipe condensation off the side windows by lowering them in perhaps half the cars I've owned. The most effective were the earliest, which had flat side window glass. When curved side window glass became standard, I couldn't clean them as well (or at all) by lowering them.

I think that the rubber strip is primarily to keep rain water from running into the interior of the door, not to clean the window. It just works that way by serendipity on some cars.

As I posted in my blog, there are a few complaints I have about the Fit.
  • Lack of standard cargo cover
  • Lack of interior lights (map light, footwell, but especially glovebox)
  • Lack of telescopic steering column
  • Drive-by-Wire response is a tad slow (revs hang during shifts)
  • Vanity mirror on wrong visor (should be on passenger)
There are of course a few more items I could nitpick about, but I realize that this is Honda's entry level vehicle. So I'm willing to live with/without them.

my complaints? The standard "no dead pedal and no armrest" Give me a height adjustable seat and a telescoping steering wheel and I am a happy happy man.

same stuff other people said

map lights
roof console
i can live w/o the armrest, I actually like the cup holder closer to me that doesnt seem like it will put my drink all over my carpet

the front cup holders dont have spring loaded adjustment teeth in them to compensate for different sized drinks so if I buy a cup of coffee it slides all over the ****ing place. And if I buy a large soda it fits perfect as long as the cup isnt designed to fit in a small cup holder.

the whole dead pedal thing is a buzzkill and a half!!! holy cow I would like a dead pedal please. and maybe like a couple of different interior lights that have motion sensors like by the cup holders (few members have made interior leds)

a lit key ring so I knwo where im jamming that broadsword of a car key

a trunk release from the interior of the car instead of a key driven one. If the base fit doesn't have keyless entry then I must be completely stupid and have overlooked the position of such a lever.

I've found simple/cheap work arounds for everything mentioned above that I may have had a minor problem with in the beginning, but I sure wish I'd had a factory sunroof option.

I want the euro/mexico/everywhere else accessory center armrest option, I want a factory dead pedal, I want a factory front maplight that doesn't blind the driver, I want a more sophisticated computer that would tell distance till empty/mpg (average/instant)/ compass..you know like on a GM , and a tad bit longer driver's seat......um that's all I ask..hehe

shouldnt be a problem later on though, im going to get her bolt ons and see if that improves the situation a little
other then that i love driving my girlfriends fit

Just hit the unlock button. It unlocks all 4 doors and the trunk.
