Unhappy Help me decide!

1st gen vs 2nd gen?

I'm pretty much emotionally attached to the body style/bright blue color of the 1st gen. But I'd have to buy used, and there's only one in my area- the dealer is asking 95% of what it was when purchased new (the original window price sticker was in the glove box). We're working on talking them down. There is no dealer warranty and only one year left of the manufacturer warranty.

A new 2nd gen would get me a 3-year warranty, I would be the first & only owner, navigation & blue tooth, and their "Vehicle Stability Assist" but would be lacking the body style & bright blue color of the first gen.

The only thing I can think of is when the rear seats are down I noticed that the second gen has smoother surface than the first gen. I am worried for my dogs- little paws and toenails getting stuck in between the seats/etc. Any dog owners have an opinion on this?

What about painting the 2nd gen the color of the 1st gen's bright blue? That sounds like a lot of hassle but maybe it's feasible? Opinion on this?

Anyone have an opinon on the 1st gen vs 2nd gen debate? HELP!

When you say bright blue, are you talking about Tidewater blue (the lighter blue color)? If so, the GE8 has that color, too.

Like this?

Ah VBP, in that case since you want that color and like the GD3's body style, go for the used one if you can save some money. I know that used car prices are high right now, but 95% of MSRP?? How many miles and what year is it?

It's an '08, 21500+ miles, and they're asking $15888. It was purchased in the same city for $16500-ish according to the window price sticker we found. The dealer has had it for two months according to the Car Fax...

Is it a Sport or a Base? Going off the $16,500 original and less than average depreciation of 15% a year, I would want to pay around $11,000, but no more than $12,000. If it's really been sitting on the lot for 2 months and they won't deal with you for a fair price, I'd walk.

That's an insane price for a GD.

I'd get what u want.. And I wouldn't be too worried about warranty. They are good cars provided maintenance is kept up with

Have you seen the 2nd gen in Blue Pearl Sensation? - Is that close enough to the 1st gen Vivid Blue??
I have never seen the blue you mention. Wow that price is steep for the older model sitting around with that many miles. But used fits retain their value. I would have bought used if I could have found the color I wanted, too.
The only 1st gen Fits around here seem to be revolution orange or red.

Wow, all I can say is you really sound torn.

On the internet, whenever people say, "Help me with this decision" in cases like this what can you do?

It all depends on you. I'd say there are always ways to add covers, and change surfaces...but a lot of the issues are subjective. How commited to the Gen 1 bodystyle, and the color? You have to decide what your priorities actually are, and what is most important to you.

The only thing I'd subjectively say, is that you seem so torn that it would seem to me that your not 100% sold on the used one you are looking at...try to make sure that whatever you do decide, becomes a decision you are happy with...and in general if you are this torn before even purchasing that would be a sign to me that it isn't the right decision...when you've decided you should be happy with the decision..

You can get a VBP in any city in the US and have it shipped to you for under $1000. That's what the internet is great for. Find another one in good condition and buy that one. The new blue is b-o-r-i-n-g and the GE body style looks like a hamster.

Internet can bag you one easy, just gotta do some leg work. Depending on where you live you can find lots. I found this one on ebay and its pretty nice looking.

Honda : Fit : eBay Motors (item 160431962974 end time May-13-10 19:02:38 PDT)

That price is $16,450. The current bid does not meet the reserve price. And, he's looking for an '08 in VBP.

Like this one: Honda : Fit : eBay Motors (item 370375911489 end time Jun-03-10 15:13:16 PDT)

But he has to figure in shipping too, so it'd be good to get it closer to him if possible. Hey I know how to do this, I had to import my Fit from St. Louis!

Edit: If the OP will tell us what state he lives in, we can find him a car.

Can you get to Dallas? You can drive it back home.

2008 Honda Fit Sport, $9,999 - Cars.com

That is a crazy deal, it might not be there long. Usually the ones at dealers have higher miles.

Oh shit, I see it's a salvage title. Never mind.

Wow, I see a 2008 Fit with 72,000 miles on it!!!!! How the hell does anyone put that many miles on a car???? Mine has 15,000 right now and it had 1,000 on it when I bought it. Wow.

Buy it from a Freak

If I were you, I'd post a wanted to buy ad here, and buy from one of us. We are all enthusiasts and love our cars, and are probably more trustworthy than just a random dealer.

You can get a cheap one-way ticket to a lot of places and then drive the car back.

But here's one that's being sold by an individual....in case u are close to Illinois...
