CV shaft does not go back into tranny 2007 model

Sorry, this is a 2009 honda fit with 1.6 liter engine

Got a call from some one that said the cv shaft does not go into the transmission. Customer was doing a spring lowering on his car and the shaft would not go in. Any reasons why? he rotated the splines several times and still would not go in. Now, the cv popped out when doing the spring conversion and cannot get it back in.

Ive done tons of cv shaft installs in my life as a mechanic. Nothing to them usually unless its a ford torus, which is a different story. Is there a reason why this would not go in?

Thanks
quick response needed.

This has been covered hundreds of times. You have to get the joint aligned in order for it to fit back into the tranny. It took me 1.5 hours to twist and rotate to get it back in. Just lift and drop the control arm and try to insert it at different angles trying to get it back in while spinning the axle. Just make sure the lower control arm is parallel with the tranny.

Last resort is to take the boot off, align up the joint, and put a new ring around the joint.

It takes some time. I know some ppl were playing with it for almost 5 hours getting it back in.

You have to match the bearings up...they are inside the boot. May have to take the boot off to check--then regrease, and reinstall boot--the clamp will probably need to be replaced by a similar locking one, but a temporary screw one will work.

I have done springs on my 2007 and a 2010 and had no problems at all..... Never had problems on VWs when I worked on them either..... I don't guess I'm much help.

I just went through this. Looks like I'm lucky though, it only took me 30 minutes max. It has happened to me 4 times. Just play with it.
