Key Sticking in Ignition Switch? (AT Sport)
happens with my integra all the time, but then again I use the steering wheel as a handle to get in and out of my car, becuase it sits so low, and there are no "oh sh!t" bars like in my brother's dodge dakota, which also will do the same thing

None of my past cars with steering wheel locks would lock up if the car is parked on a flat surface, with the wheels straight and the steering wheel not turned. (Actually one did have the problem - my 1999 Dodge Caravan with 100,000+ miles. It would lock up on flat ground with straight wheels. I replaced the ignition switch and the problem was gone).
The Fit has done it 3 times in the past 3 weeks.

You shouldn't have to "jiggle" the wheel before you start it. Most cars have some issues, and this is probably one of the Fit's.
2. i have stated that my HONDAS did this.. kdepew, you have a mitsubishi.. how does it relate to what I said?

All our Hondas do the same if you touch the steering wheel when exiting or entering.
It may be a Honda thing, but I've also experienced it on other makes. I actually engage the wheel lock on purpose most of the time.

If you have what you consider to be an "out of the ordinary" problem, take the car to get checked out. I had a car that would hydroplane, everyone would say it was the tires. I knew it was not the tires because I had already looked at what would be considered as the obvious problems.

If you have also experienced this problem, please add to this list. Maybe we can then share it with Honda to see if they can REALLY fix it for us.
We shouldn't have to pull the steering wheel left or right to start the car - regardless of the price of the car.

This is not an issue with the fit. It kappens on all cars when the steering wheel is bound up.
My '92 Civic did the same thing and I'd always get freaked out because I didn't know how to start the car.... until one day my friend was like, "Um, that's the anti-theft lock, sweetie. Turn your steering wheel."
But I agree with conchewski. Take it in just in case. It'll make you sleep easier and it'll settle this issue.

This has happened to me 3 times, I ended up starting the car, putting it in drive and moving it just a bit, the steering wheel movement probobly would have done the same thing.
What I have been doing though is making sure that when I put the key in the ignition, that the button side of the key (lock/unlock/panic!) is facing me. Have not had to fight the key since then. Maybe thats something, maybe it's nothing? dunno?

Since my last post, it has yet to happen again. I did experiment a little with the turned steering wheel, and notice that I can recreate it pretty easily. However, it probably is not a real big deal. I'm already getting used to it.
Update on key stickyness
So I went to get my plates from the dealler today and when I pulled in and parked, my key was stuck. I tried my little trick of simply putting the car in D and then back into park and it remained. Then remembering the comments I tried the wiggle of the wheel advice and nothing changed. Went inside and got a sales guy out to take a look, he was puzzled at best. He told me to pull into the service area and they would fix it up asap no charge. My girl and I get back into the car and pull around, as we do this I comment that as soon as I pull into the service area the key is going to be fine. Low and behold, I was right, driving that small amount released it.
The service guy was unable to replicate the issue and recomended that I switch to my backup key (which I am). He said that this should not happen and that it could either be a minor minor miscut on the key I am using or it could be an internal situation. I told him about the forums and he agread to an extent, until the point where the advice didn't work (he said and did try the wiggle of the wheel as well).
If it never happens again, then it is my key, if it does happen again and in any kind of pattern, then it is an internal problem and they will fix/cover it.
Drove home making about 3 other stops and the origional key has not been stuck. The odd thing is that I see no pattern in this behaviour.

The problem when you put the car in park and can not remove the ignition key lies in the shifter lever. Next time that you put the car in park, and the key gets stuck when you turn off the engine, just pull the shift lever a little bit back towards you. You will hear a little click in the steer column (which releases the locking mechanism of the ignition key), then you will be able to remove the key. I went to the dealer but they can not duplicate the problem so it went on unsolve until I finally figured it out.
im having a horrible problem with my honda fit 2007 AT, everytime, i put the key into the ignition, the car starts normally, but when when i turn the car off, the key gets stuck in the ignition, and i mean STUCK i tried everything form wiggling the steerign wheel to jiggling with the shifter, It wont turn back to the 0 posistion, then i d/c'd the battery of my car and the key automatically let loose, wtf could this be?
