coolant low temperature light

Everytime I start my fit, the low temperature light of coolant will show up for a few minutes, then go off.

I wonder whether I need wait until the light is off, then drive the car, I remember somebody said we should warm the engineer, then drive it, is that right? If not, how can we know the enginner is warm enough for driving?

Thanks.

It is very depend of your personality. Some people like to do that some people not!!! I used to do it on any car. All you have to do is just wait 2-3 mins (Except in Rush). It is beter for the engine. About the light, do u realize that the Fit does not have the Temp. meter? So it is the same function as that, so just wait few mins after you start the engine.

It's best to just start the car and drive it right away (but drive it easy). It will warm up much faster and dump less water into the exhaust system that causes corrosion and will heat the catalytic converter up faster and cause less pollution. If it is very cold (maybe below 20 deg F.) out then let the engine idle for about 30 second and then drive. Every expert on cars that I have talked to has said this. It will not cause damage to the engine to let it warm up before driving but it's just a waste of gas.

Mine usually goes off before I have a chance to get out of the driveway.

Once the oil is flowing, you're good to go. And I agree, best to start driving it sooner, better for the engine and the environment.

Just when it's not warmed up all the way, try to not let the RPMs get too high at all. I try not to let my revs get above 3500 in my sol until it's fully warmed up.
