Locked Out! - Extra set of keys are 300 Miles Away
Well, my teenage daughter sent me this text at 2:46 AM this morning: "can't find my keys. Locked out of car all our essentials are in there. Running out of phone power". To set the stage, she went with her friend to the big 3 day Bisco event in the Albany NY area - Essentially an outdoor Woodstock type of festival with a million other kids packed in. She has a GD FIT with power door locks. The reason I'm posting is maybe some members can help out with information. (and please don't ask if I've already searched the forums - I'm already stressed out). The spare key is 300 miles away at my house.
1. Is it possible to lock the keys in the car? I might add, that although my daughter is brunette, her friend is blonde and anything is possible.
2. If they can't find the keys, does the Fit's internal door locking mechanism lend itself to be opened by a "slim jim" or some other break-in type tool? She has AAA Roadside service. Or maybe the event's security patrol can help out with getting into the car
3. Could a local dealer in the Albany area make up a key if I provided them with the VIN number?
4. Any other ideas? I have not heard back from them either because they may have ran out of phone juice, (the charger is locked in the car). Also the phone service is intermittent in that area. My last resort would be to drive out to "Camp Bisco" with the spare key, and try to find her and/or her car among the thousands out there.

Paying $50 for lockout service (through a tow company or AAA) is going to likely be the cheapest bet. They'll use a wedge, an inflatable bag, and a 'slim jim' to push the unlock button on the door. It'll likely cause the alarm to activate, but it'll only be audible.
1: Is it possible? Sure it's possible, anything is possible! At this point you might as well assume that they are in fact locked in the car.
2: Can you slim jim it? Looking at the picture in my catalog I would say yes/probably.
3: Could a dealer cut a key? Yes absolutely. The real question hear is will they? By law as a dealer you have to have proof of ownership of the vehicle for them to cut the key. Some dealers are pretty lenient with that law though. If they DO cut the key it will only open the locks, not start the car. The key itself would have to be programmed to the car which means the car has to be there for that to happen.
4: Other ideas? Call the cops, some of those guys are pros with a slim jim. Hope in the car and go on a little road trip! It's almost the weekend, why not make it a mini vacation! Sure you'll get there and be pissed off but you will get major brownie points from your daughter, thats always a good thing.
I would say the options would go like this, AAA, slim jim, dealership, drive down there, or grab a rock and chuck it through the window. Good luck, update with what happens.

Latest texts:
Them: "We got into the car. But we still can't disarm the alarm or start it. We need the keys"
Me:"Keep looking for the keys, lost & found etc. How did you get into the car?"
Them:"we had a biker. There's no damage to the car, don't worry."
Me:??????????????????????
Them: --radio silence
