Our First Recall

Honda to recall nearly 1.2 million vehicles

Reuters / August 3, 2006 - 10:00 am

DETROIT -- Honda Motor Co. is recalling nearly 1.2 million cars and motorcycles to amend incorrect contact information in its owner's manual for a vehicle safety hotline, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said today.

The U.S. agency said "the language in the owner's manual is not in accordance with the current mandatory requirement."

The recall includes 2006 and 2007 Honda and Acura models.

And in typical Honda style - no big deal.

Ha Ha Ha - it's the prefix printed on a Honda information Hotline - they printed 800 instead of 888 - you get an adult phone chatline instead of Honda!!!

Do I have to drop off my owners manual at the dealer for the recall? How long will it take for the service?

I was under the impression they would mail out inserts to replace the incorrect page in the manual instead of bringing it to the dealer.

I thought Jonniedee was kidding, but here is another version of the story:

Honda prints phone sex number in 1.2 million car manuals

Honda this week said it misprinted a toll-free auto-safety phone
number in 1.2 million car manuals for the 2006 model year. Instead of
an '888' prefix, Honda printed an '800.' And customers who attempted
to use the phone number didn't get just any service. They were
greeted by a phone sex line ? "for live one-on-one talk with a hot
fantasy girl." In a letter to the National Highway Traffic Safety
Administration, Honda said it would send postcards to owners and
dealers with the correction.

Something tells me this is going to be our first recall.

That is if Honda admits to this problem.

I doubt it, recalls are usually reserved for safety issues, this is a warranty issue.
