Fit Based Crossover Concept Drawing - Revealed in Detroit

Don't forget that's a concept, so as long as they know the next gen Fit will be generally the same hardpoints as the current one, they can easily design the exterior and fit it on later. If that concept actually rides on a unibody, it's on the current Fit. My guess, anyway
It looks a lot better than I thought. It might actually be competitive. But are these "mini SUVs" really SUVs if they don't have 4WD? I submit that's what we used to call a "hatchback" back in the day.

We know what the engine numbers, will be just do not know the styling and any major updates be such as interior. Will be interesting if the 2014 is the same as 2013 Fit but with the new DI engine.

Next Concept at Montreal auto show
While the 2013 Detroit Auto Show is still going on, Honda sent this teaser of a new concept that will debut at the Montreal Auto Show in a few days.
This concept foreshadows a smaller than subcompact sized vehicle, with a Fit-like look. The Honda concept, which is inspired by fixed gear bicycles, promises to be fun-to-drive, customizable and connected. This, along with the Urban SUV Concept, is expected to hit the right spots with generation-Y, a target demographic which is proving to be a tough market to crack with automakers.
This micro-subcompact seems to be ready to do battle with the likes of the Chevrolet Spark, Fiat 500 and Scion iQ.
More information on the GEAR Concept will be released when it lands on January 17.

It looks shorter, but that reminds me of the Mazda 2 in size and the M2 is a great car, really handles nicely, quiet on the road, good pickup, fun to drive, with good mileage. I would have bought one, but needed the huge cargo space advantage the Fit offers.

If they put the L15A engine and the craptastic brakes the fit has... then it won't be able to even stay with normal traffic.
Hopefully they will have better versions of both. But honestly, it won't matter how efficient the engine is until they fix the Coefficient of Drag for our little cars... (~.35 vs the Civic .31, .28 for hybrid). Just going to a .31 would save about 10% in power requirements for going 60mph. While not huge, this would definately put it into the solid 40mpg range.
