My car has a build date of 9/18 we have a blue sport manual buid date 9/15 etc etc.

I ordered one in mid July for the October allocation and haven't been contacted by the dealer once. I've called a couple of times but they say they don't get any info as far as vin#s or expected delivery dates until a couple of weeks after the car has been built. I spoke with my sales guy a couple of weeks a go and he said my build date was 9/15. Finally I called Honda customer service today and they told me the same thing. No info for a couple of weeks. It's kind of wierd how some dealers say they are kept in the dark and others say they have all the info months in advance.

Same here. I'm working with the largest dealer in Ohio & a couple states around, and they never know what's coming until a month or so in advance. Each month the allocation list comes in, and that's the only time they can say anything for sure. I don't understand how different dealers get different levels of info....

I am so happy that I didn't take dealer's words back in May.
I looked and called around almost everyday and found one and took it immediately. Started saving my money on gas since then.

Craptastic!!!

Thats all I can say about how everyone who is waiting is being treated.

I originaly dealt with a Honda dealer right down the street. Things didn't work out well, (no comment).

Anyway, I have my Fit, & whenever I drive past the dealer I have yet to see another Fit other than the 2 they had when I started looking in MAY!!!!

I love Honda, their cars have a reputation of reliability, but if you can't GET one...what does that say?

This year has been a tragedy for the Fit, i see Honda loosing more custommers than it could be gaining at this point.

To those that are willing to wait, it's worth it. To those that are not in a position to wait, look at the Xa, the yaris, The VW hatch, or other high ends.

Hope you all find a car that you love

get this

Okay I get a call from the dealer I was dealing with for my fit. I was expecting a call this week for them to tell me to come and get it, etc. When they called they said " I have an update on your Honda Fit". I was like cool !!! They said we have a build date of 9/22. I said 9/22? They said yep. I said "I thought it was being built on 8/4/06 with a delivery of late Sept "? They said "Oh it was, but somehow someone else got that car before it got to us, so we had to reorder you one". So here I got to wait all over again. I had this gut feeling someone else got that car, because I wasn't getting any info at all on the 8/4/06 car. Now it makes me wonder. I see some of you guys on here that ordered back in the spring, and "still no fit"! I wonder how many of you would have had a car, but it went somewhere else, and your just getting jerked around? My car probably went to one of the salesman's family or close friend, and I was stuck back on the waiting list.

I was given the same run around about not being able to order a Fit with a manual transmission. I put money down back in April. As of August the car had not even been ordered yet. I said screw you, got my money back, and headed to Nissan and now I will be getting a Versa.
I think all of Honda's marketing people should be fired for marketing a car that you can't even get. I honestly think that Honda is losing/going to lose a lot of business to competitors based on the fact of people wanting fuel effcient cars now and not wanting to wait 4-6 months to get one.

Supply is bad everywhere. Only about 3 to 5 Fits to each dealership per month. No choice on what they get whether the base version or the Sport.
In my area hardly any are manual transmission.

Demand varies alot. In most big city areas or in areas that favor imports the queue is so long that it's depressing. Worse many dealers are charging $3000 over MSRP for essentially Honda's lowest sticker price car for 2007.

I tried looking in Hawaii and it was no deal. 3 to 5 month wait. $500 down and $3000+ over MSRP for my trouble at multiple dealers.

I did find one for MSRP in Indiana for my daughter who is in college.

2007 Orange metallic Honda Fit Found out and made a deposit on 8/4
Build date: 8/23/06
Arrival date is 9/25/06

The car is being cleaned up and readied this weekend.

All done by long distance via internet and phone.

Well, I just stopped by the dealer on Saturday and they sort of looked at their feet and shuffled them a bit, and said I had a build date of "November". No further details.

I'm starting to check out other options; this is ridiculous.

I feel your pain, too! My Accord gave up the ghost after 11 years while I was car shopping, then I borrowed my daughter's Camry, and right after I put a deposit down on my Fit in April (3 weeks before the official release date), the Camry's transmission went out. I spent the last week driving a rental, and when my Fit came in on April 18, but I was told I had to wait until April 20, I had, well...a fit! The manager authorized the loan of a CR-V for those last two painful days. He took pity on me when he heard I was stuck driving a rented Aveo!
