Smile First Car! 2018 Honda Fit Sport - What is good price?

Hi there, I am 28 years old, living in Los Angeles, and endeavoring upon my first car buying experience. I lived in NYC previous to this and so never had the need for a car / never educated myself on how this process all works!

I've narrowed down my choice to a 2018 Honda Fit Sport. I've gotten offered the price of $17,100 MSRP from a dealer in the LA area. I've asked for him to meet me at $17,000 out the door (inclusive of tax, DMV and transport fees). Do you think this is a fair deal? If not I would love advice/tips on what you think is!

Any insight is appreciated.

Warmly,
Ryan

Price Negotiations

In response to your question; I don't know about the current west coast pricing/demand/etc., nor how much you're willing to spend, BUT keep in mind that you are the buyer. Shop the deal around w/ other dealers to see if they'll match it. Stick to your guns, but allow some flexibility; ALWAYS be ready to walk out, if they try to "railroad" you, there are always other dealers available . DO NOT be talked into any extended warranty plans/VIN glass etching/pinstriping, or any other dealer add ons to mark up the price. Hopefully, you can/have already secured your own financing; a credit union can offer great rates, and some even have a car buying service. These are some of the things to consider for your first purchase experience. If you have a good friend who has automotive/purchasing knowledge, take them along to back you up. Oh, and by the way, once you get your new ride, PLEASE READ the owner's manual from front to back. Hope this helps, and GOOD LUCK!

yah as fittmann mentioned above, after the sales guy is 'done' with you, even after shaking hands on the deal, youll get clobbered by the finance guy trying to sell you more shit. just tell him/her thanks, but you're not interested.

unless they offer you clearbra at a good deal (200 range for front bumper and part of hood/fender).. that is the only item id consider. GL with your purchase.

I'm in California and use Costco for my car buying. They aggregrate all the local dealers and I have been offered consistently below wholesale pricing. Take a look to see if they can offer a competitive price in your area. I'm lazy so this was perfect for me.

Paid 17,000 +tt&l for my 2018 Fit Sport Manual 3 weeks ago. Car came tinted from the factory and with wheel locks. My salesman said he "threw" in floor mats for me since they are apparently not standard. Anyone out there getting better deals on their Fit Sports?
