PECKERS! Someone hit the Lexus!

UGH!!!! Last night the wife worked late and I took my daughters to the mall. I got the smallest one a "My First Grill" pacifier from Spencer's. AWESOME stuff. We ate some pizza and had a good time, got some churros, saw Santa and Rudolph. Everything was super. Came home, watched TV when the wife got home and went to sleep.

My wife went to my trunk today to get some diapers. She said, "Kris...LOOK!" Sure enough, something large had hit my rear bumper. Truck bumper maybe. It cracked the paint since the bumper is urethane and scraped it all to hell. So now my IS250 has to wait until Monday to get looked at because all of the Lexus dealers collision shops are closed.

To top it off, my deductible I THINK is $500. I usually keep my higher priced cars at $250 but I have to review my policy. If it is $500 though, I can guarantee that the repair will be $750 or there about. So it is simpler to pay out of pocket for everything since A. it won't affect my insurance and B. it won't go on a carfax report.

Just irks me that I could have had a NOTE ON THE WINDSHIELD. I don't even care if they left a name or number...Just a simple apology would do. I told my wife that if I would have seen it, it would have "been over." Obviously, from the post from me below, with my gun fetish she said, "What, are you going to kill someone because they hit your car?" NOOOOOO!!!! Good Lord! I have more sense than that! However, the person may BEG for me to shoot them once I get done pouncing on them!

Just another fluffed up day in life for me to chalk up. The Fit NEVER had a door ding...BUT a $30K car gets smacked not even 2 months of ownership.

I hear your frustration. Two weeks ago someone sideswiped my Accord and shoved it into 2 other vehicles in the middle of the night and drove off. Of course that is the car I didn't have comprehensive insurance on too! No note, nothin. People suck.

Thanks for the support guys. It just sucks because the Lexus body shop is closed until Monday so it hampers me by taking time off of work for someone else's stupidity. It also leaves me to drive either the Fit or my Explorer which both are fine, I just like the Lexus!

I am sure it will work out. Adjuster is coming out soon so we will see what happens.

That sux Kris.

If it was me, I'd just start drinking until Monday and the shops open up...

Just kidding, I wouldn't drink the ENTIRE time until Monday, I'm sure there'd be food involved too....

It sucks. But it sucks even worse! Today I played Mr. Mom and had all of my kids since my wife had to work. The day went ok. We went to get my son a haircut, we went to the park, then we went to a hot dog and wing place. As I was pulling in, the angle was weird and I curbed a damned wheel! about 6 inches of not BAD curbing...But enough to tell.

So that just made me even more upset. I bought the kids a few toys to keep them occupied while I worked on the wheel. Broke out the ol dremel and polishing kit and it looks OK. Not jagged or nasty or anything and now you can barely tell it except some waves and 2 fine scratches in the chrome. I am going tomorrow to get some 2000 grit wet sand paper and try to get it as smooth as possible and then polish it again. It just SUCKS I tell ya! All I know is I didn't want to spend the money on a new wheel after only having them on for 2 months.

sh!t happens bro

my Fit got ass violated after 2 months of ownership(by coincidence) and it was a hit and run too...i saw it after work at 1 am when I was supposed to go home relax and sleep. $3000 the fix...after the fix one day i parked quickly in a low sidewalk to put garbage in a trash can..only 1 minute or so, when i got back in the car i put it in reverse I hit something real hard...it was a very, very, VERY low 80's Toyota Corolla that parked silently behind me..thank God it's bumper was rubber, i only got very minor scratches, but yea, what im saying is Sh!t happens, and through all of it u always learn something or get a laugh about it later so its never an all-bad thing.

Good luck with everything.

Thanks everyone. And yes, I could use a Corona LDO.

I am not too worried about it. Whatever happens, I have the money for the fixes. I just wish people were different in Miami. Not like small town life that I grew up in.

Oh well, such is life! Cheers LDO...I have my Amber Bock and watching 1408 right now. That is some freaky stuff!
