Traded my Jetta TDI for a Fit
Bought a used '07 Orange Blaze Fit S with 16K miles for $14750 from a widow up the street. Her husband was a bit of a tuner. Tasteful stuff, stainless exhaust K&N Typhoon intake. Just picked it up today. Saved thousands over a new one because of sales tax and such. Anyway...
I deliver bins of pharmaceuticals for a drug company by day, and am a musician by night. I brought home a bunch of empty bins so I could play a little tetris with the Fit when I got it, and here are the results:
'99.5 VW Jetta TDI sedan fits: 14 BINS
'07 Honda Fit Sport fits..........30 BINS
I just picked up a new route at work, and I was hoping the geometry of the car would work out with these bins, and it does. Perfectly. I can fit 9 tall bins flat across the floor, 3 high, and another 6 short bins (half bins) on top of those easily with all that headroom.
And as far as the music thing? When I'm touring, it'll likely be me and my drummer. We can fit my 2 amps and two guitars, and his kit in there and still have room for the passenger to chill in refresh mode and take a nap on the road.
Damn man, I'm pretty pleased with my choice. Now, for the reliability test - 70K miles a year ought to tell that tale soon enough.

I guess I should have mentioned that the maintenance costs on my Jetta last year totaled $6000.
Granted, the 250K+ the car had on it, and the 80K miles I drove last year, but still. C'mon.
I'm budgeting $1500 a year for the first two years of ownership for the Fit. And $3500 a year in depreciation.
