S2000 vs. G37 coupe
drop the ball and chain for a new GT-R :33
its what the g35 was supposed to be(in jp and later na), and what the g37 wants to be.
i've seen two here in AZ before the main importing has started, and they look incredible. a lovely 2x as much as an s2k but who needs small and fast when you have large and beastly. 480whp yum.
okay that would be my pick.
but IMO for you.. the s2k. :D

canyons and twisties around you i would get the S2000. if you got
a lot of straight open roads i'd get the G37C. that's how i would
decide.
Figure out what the car needs to have to make you happy and go from there.
With that said this is a Honda fanboy forum so everyone will say the S2000 over the G37C just because we all love hondas.
Unless you live at 4000ft of altitude like me, go for the S2000:D

let me be one of the few to recommend the g37. i have driven the g35, and it's an amazing car. it's luxurious, it's fast, and you can drive comfortably in it for hours. i've never been in an S2K, but from what i understand, it's stiff and uncomfortable, as a good sports car SHOULD be. but unless you plan on taking your car to the track every weekend, i think you'll enjoy the g37 much more than the S2K.
another note ill offer is over the past few months weve had quite a few s2000 come in because of a trans leak. many, many of them. and to top it off we have put many new trannys in each one and still the same problem. now this could be just a bad batch of tranasmissions and whatnot but its something to consider. this is one of the main reasons the s2000 is being put out of production and honda is replacing with a new sports car
IMO...you can't even compare the 2 cars. If you want PURE performance such as handling, acceleration plus the huge aftermarket the S2K...if you are looking to turn some heads then the luxury driven 4,600 pound sport car with horrible gas mileage....G37!

G37 is a sick car..its kinda heavy, but with luxury cars u cant expect to have good handling anyways...im not saying it has bad handling, it obviously has that luxury feel to it, where it compensates for ur mistakes, but it lacks that sporty handling where its very quick in response...I love the G37 but i'd go with the s2K, if ur lookin' for a summer car, u gotta go with a car that can have the top go down
Wow...haha...Im surprised with all the excellent responses in the last 2 days! Thanks again.
Yeah, by the sounds of everyone's descriptions of both cars...it definetly sounds like an S2000 would be what Im looking for! I really want something that handles great and is fun to drive! :) Its definetly going to be a summer car only and this would be my first convertible. I plan on keeping it stock (no really) and plan on keeping this for many years! May be worth something after 20 some years.
I dont know a whole lot about the S2000 (just that I love the look of them) but is there any other differences between the AP1 and the AP2 besides the changes in the motor?? I know I said new...but theres a possiblity that I may be able to get an extremely low mileage AP1 next year.

This should be all you need.

its seems that you work at a honda dealer.
and while i don't doubt that you have seen your fair share of problems, it just sounds silly that honda would totally replace an entire model because of an issue it has.
what they should do, (and have done in the past) is address the issue, not make a whole new car.
if and when a new honda badged sports car comes out, it will be because we have been due one for awhile...not because they can't fix a tranny problem.
i doubt honda's pulling out the s2k production just because of that
tranny.
the designer's retired with the CR being his last project. i think it's
time honda made a new sportscar with a hard top with their new
design leader, not that there's anything wrong with the s2k.
it's a dated design, even if the chassis was updated.

S2000 gets my vote because you have a FIT for your daily driver.
Pretty sure im gonna go for an S2000. The only thing now is that im either looking at buying (Next year) a new one or buying a very low mileage '03 that has been babied since new. The '03 is white with a blue interior...which I love! I think it sounds cool to have a car that can rev up to 9000. :)
