Makes sense first it was home and business computers then cell phones. Seems cars over the years have gone more wireless, key less starts connecting to your phones for read outs, and more key components are run by the computer that was mechanical in the past. Be interesting if they told what years and types of cars were more hackable from the systems installed.

 

That's the dark side of technology. If there's an IP address and/or wireless transmission involved, there's your door with a lock that can be picked or the open loop that can be grabbed by receivers.

 

Well that is kinda problem i would never have noticed..

 

Hackers getting into your car by grabbing the signal preventing the doors from locking can be foiled just by making sure your doors are locked before you walk away. Pull on the handle or at least listen for the beep of the horn.

 

If a remote's Tx frequency is captured, double-checking that your door is locked is pointless.

 

Technology has made driving more unsafe from people relining on safety features to notify them on their blindsides to people texting or talking on their cell phones or messing with their touch screens while driving rather then just driving.

 

Yup! There will always be a +/- to it. In many ways, the driver's skill set or development there of is compromised... A CPU on wheels with car seats. So perhaps a plug-in black box (scrambler) firewall is next, from Norton, Kapersky, Avast, etc. :-)

 

But there is another MORE COMMON way of doing it that blocks the lock signal and checking physically will negate that hack.
