If you buy vehicles that were well taken care of, why not? Also, If you can get a 3-4 year old Si with low milage for $5,000+ less than the cost of a NEW Fit out the door and you plan on putting parts on it why would you not?

I would lean closer to the EP, you can find cheap ones on EPhatch. With just AEM Cold Air/DC Race Header/HKS Catback i made 165whp and 136 torque, my average MPG was 25-27 and the highest i got was 33.
I upgraded to a Rev Hard Turbo Kit, sadly i still havent completed the install (needs injector clips soldered and guardian wired) and its been a month, school, finals, work is takin up all my time. I am still driving it, drives like normal but it starts spooling around 2800 and i feel it from 3200-4k before i shift. I havent pushed over 30% throttle and 4k RPM but from that 3200-4k it starts to pull quite nice. At this time i been gettin 29-30 MPG driving under 4k everyday. At 7lbs of boost ive seen 250-260whp and at 10 your good for 300-320whp.
It can also handle, overall a real fun car to drive, the shifter is wierd at first but once u drive it, youll love it.
