Also, I see the front BBK is fitted. Did that come from the GE8? Any modification required?

 

We have the headlights coming in next week.

We're testing 3 different brake calipers right now with different combinations of rotors but there is currently already a standard kit available for the GK Fit.

I have a better feeling about the GK than the GE8, not much aftermarket support for that car, a Hondata Flashpro would've been the best mod for a GE8. Now with the new more powerful Honda Earth engine, maybe Hondata will give it more thought than they did with the GE8.
Question to Spoon... Will you be doing any Programming to tweak the power curve on the GK? If so, how are you going about doing that, and will there possibly be a part for the consumer market. I'm still hoping for a Flashpro from Hondata to come out for the GK, maybe you could beat them to the punch

 

Unfortunately the direct injection makes everything very difficult. I doubt we will see simple ecu flashes any time soon.

 

This may be asking a lot but I figure why not take advantage of this rare opportunity since it is presenting itself.

Could you please weigh the rotors and post up how much they weigh? I'm HUGE into reducing rotating mass and weight in general. I know it may be insignificant to most but it means the world to me. I do not want to know just for information purposes but to buy them when they are available (If they are quite a bit lighter than stock).

I'm an Autocrosser and saving weight on rotating mass is huge. I've seen cars that will go to great lengths to save on rotating mass, like designing custom caliper brackets out of aluminum, and using custom rotors with aluminum top hats. I'm guessing the Spoon calipers are lighter than stock (but have no effect on rotating mass of course) And the Spoon forged wheels are lightweight I am sure.

 

i am a solo guy as well. if ou have been around a while, you may remember the andy hollis rotors....



he remove 3lbs off each rotor. i remember looking at the car at nationals in topeka. each one of the outer holes had cracks going between them... f that. lol....

 

Any info on the K20 GK5 Ichisama did in Japan ?

 

The Spoon Caliper weighs in at 5lbs vs the factory at 10lbs. However, the Spoon rotor is bigger to work with the Spoon Twin-Block Caliper and it's not drilled so it's heavier than the stock one at 12.9 lbs vs 11.25 for the stock rotor. Overall, there is still a significant reduction in unsprung weight with a big increase in braking efficiency.

 

We'll be using prototype Spoon Full Spec Dampers. Similar to the ones on the GE Fit but the top mounts are slightly different on the GK.

Spoon wheels aren't forged in an effort to make them affordable. So we'll be using these... 9.25 lb Volk Racing CE28 Club Racer wheels custom sized for Super Taikyu.
