syco- do you know if they just swapped with the same part or is it
different from before? chances are, it's going to break again.

it is exactly the same. just when you put the brake lever down, dont push it down. do so easily.

bothered me the last wk. infact, i dont really look under the lever
before i push it down (just grab hold of the lever without even looking)
so forgot it was even broken. hahaha

Mine's been broke since winter '06 and I never bothered to fix it. It'd just happen again and like you noticed, when I'm driving I can't see the opening b/c the lever's down, and when it's up it's b/c it's parked and I'm not there to see it either, so no big deal. Besides, after putting in my short shifter, I also realized there's not much under the opening anyway that is worth covering, so if it gets really dusty or whatever in there, I'll just pop the console and vacuum it for another 2-3 yrs of clean.
