Clunk in front pass side - steering rack?

Hi folks,

My '08 has 70k and I've been developing a noise for about 6 months. When I first roll forward from a stop or first turn the steering while stopped I get a clunking sound. With the car in the air on stands I can turn lock to lock and not hear anything. I can try to wiggle the passenger wheel and feel no play (to verify wheel bearing). I have tried to push, pull, pry the CV shaft, steering shaft, and sway bar in hopes of finding something loose, but I come up empty. The swaybar seems close to the contol arm. Could this be bumping? The sound is awful and I've had no luck sourcing it.
Thanks,
Bman

Got a similar noise in my 08... cannot identify. I thought it was my engine torque damper, but removing it didn't remove the sound. I thought it was loose electrical inputs for my sub pre amp in the dash...nope. I have kinda shrugged my shoulders at this point

I've seen hints in a few posts that swaybar end links are a problem. Have people had problems with end links going bad, and the extra play causing interference with the control arm?

I'm thinking it is that or the steering rack itself, and I sure don't want to replace that.

Let me know if you have any luck solving your similar problems. Short of making a blind grab at the end links, I'm at a loss.

Thanks for the on the end-link DIY I posted.

Replacing the links fixed the problem for us, it's been 14K miles of quiet driving since then.

Guys, the endlink you guys are talking about, is that the thin ~1 foot long metal rod that is attaching near the front shock??? And how much did that cost? And what problems had you encounter when you replace it yourself?
