GE8: Piggy Back &or ECU Reflash

Added HPS 27-102P Short Ram Air Intake Kit to my Fit and took 1.4 secs off 5-60 MPH which now stands at 9.1 secs.

Looking to add an axle back exhaust, considering:

HKS 32003-BH006 Hi-Power Exhaust

Tanabe T70143A Medalion Touring

Plan on installing:

DEN 5310-IK22 (indexed)

Been told I need to install a "Piggy Back" and/or ECU Reflash to maximize HP. Are these two items the same thing? If not, what is the difference? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each? How do they fit into dyno tuning the car? What are the choices? Which one is best and why? Think it would be nice to be able to adjust Fuel/Air mixture - lean it out during highway driving, set it richer for performance.

Any info./links you can provide is appreciated.

Best,
Yo

A Piggy-Back is an adjuster that "piggy-backs" (is wired to) your OEM Engine ECU. Once the piggy-back is installed you bring the car to a tuner. The tuner puts you car on the dyno and tunes the piggy-back based on the exhausts air/fuel ratio.

A Reflash; you send you OEM Engine ECU to a tuner, give him a list of your mods, and he tunes it appropriately based on his experience.

There are different levels for both. A piggy back like the Apexi SAFC only tunes fuel. Where more advance like the AEM FIC tunes fuel and ignition timing. And so on... It really depends on your purse.

Where did you order it from? How do you tune? Downloadable map or dyno tune required?

I ordered it through ktuner since it was a test unit. But if your ecu is one of the ones listed as suported in that thread then you can order from any of the dealers. Dealers | KTuner, LLC

I'm not familiar with the software or with tuning fuel and ignition tables so I opted to go with an etuner (VitViper). He sends you a map to flash to the ecu and then you datalog and send that back. And you repeat until the tune is completed. But you can also dyno tune if you want. Just need to find a tuner familiar with the tuning software.
