Question Cost of engine rebuild

I hope this is the right place to ask this.
I've been looking to buy a use Fit. Prob between 09-11. I had a girlfriend with one and I really liked it.
Some of the ads show high mileage. Like close to 200k. One is close to 300k.
I've been ignoring anything over 200k, but I was wondering if I see a good deal with high mileage, if I should consider it.
So I got to thinking that maybe what I save, I can use to rebuild the engine when the time comes. But I haven't been able to find how much it would cost to do so. Rebuild is a lot cheaper than replacement, right?
I know there's lots of variables, but was hoping to get a ball park idea.

Also, if there's anything else about the Fits with high mileage that I should be concerned about, I would welcome the advice.

Thanks

There's no way in hell a used replacement is cheaper than a rebuild. I've seen sub 80k examples for $400. I used to know a guy in Atlanta who had a 65k engine for $380. Rebuild is closer to a grand.

There's a couple members here who have gone to 400k and above. Think the record stands at 568k before water ingestion killed it.

Just do a google search for used auto parts in your area to find sources of used engines and call a few to see what they'd cost. A second search for auto engine rebuild will give you local rebuilders who you can call for prices. Plus, the rebuilders can probably install a used engine so you can ask for those prices too.

Planning the same for my Fit if engine or transmission goes. Used engines/transmissions with low miles are pretty cheap.

Rust...Once it gets started on the Fit, it grows fast.
Honda never used the heavy gauge steel on the fit...lol

Thanks for the info. I'm more confident about buying a high mileage fit now.

That's good to know. Very little snow in the city I live, but close to areas that do get snow regularly.

Oh boy am I learning this one. I live in Michigan where we heavily salt roads in the winter. Rust started on the rear archways on both sides. Little I can do about it myself.
