Honda Fit 2009 stalling/jerking issues
Honda Fit 2009 stalling/jerking issues
I have a 2009 Honda Fit. (121,800 miles) I’ve taken it to the Honda Dealership and they have no clue what is wrong with it and have sent my car back 3 times because of it. Over the past month, here are the weird issues I’ve been experiencing:
1st experience- Car was idle, felt like my engine was slightly louder for a moment and the oil pressure, electric power steering light, and battery light popped up for a couple seconds. Car radio randomly reset itself. Took it to O’Riley to get a battery and alternator reading. It read bad for my battery. They told me to take it to Auto-Zone to double check, and they said it read completely fine twice. Took it to Honda, conclusion was bad battery. Replaced battery.
2nd experience- Didn’t drive it for a week-ish after the battery replacement. Went on the highway, and wasn’t on there for more than 10 minutes from my home and the car started jerking back and forth and felt like it was about to stall on me. Couldn’t go over 50mph and all of a sudden couldn’t go over 20mph. Pulled to the side, saw the oil pressure and battery light on for a few seconds again. I was able to turn my car on and off just fine, and towed it back to the dealership. They told me they couldn’t find anything besides a bug on my airflow sensor. They took it off, cleaned the sensor, that was it.
Another week goes by.
Final experience (so far)- drove maybe 5 minutes from home, car completely stalls on me as I’m at a stop light. Brake locks on me, I try turning the car off to turn it on again- nothing. Won’t turn on for about 2 or 3 minutes. When it turns on finally, the oil pressure light, battery light, and check engine light come on for a few seconds and then go off. Also, my dashboard that shows my average MPG I get always says 31 MPG, and suddenly it read as my average was 21MPG. Anyway, I was able to get it towed back to the dealership. They told me this time they can’t find anything wrong with it, that they’ve driven it till it was very low on gas, but come up with nothing wrong and no symptoms I’m describing happen for them.
I took it to Christian Brothers and they also said the car isn’t throwing any codes, but guessed it could be the mass airflow sensor. They replaced it two days ago and have test drove it on the highway and around town twice, with no issues. Picked the car up today and noticed my average MPG went from 21 when I last saw it, to now 24average MPG on dashboard. I’ve only driven it about 5 minutes so far and I’m not confident it’s not going to stall on me again or start jerking. Mechanic told me to drive it a lot for a day or two and then bring it back if there are issues…
(Each issue has been around two weeks+apart in the past two months)
Can anyone guide me on what this might be, if it’s not the mass airflow sensor? I’ll update this once I take it for a longer drive tomorrow.
Thanks
