Seeing if anyone knows where I could find the proper sized plastic (or really any) nuts for the rear license plate holes on the 2009 Honda Fit's rear door.
I took it in to Advance Auto Parts and they said they only carry the standard nuts pictured below.
I know I could go all around town to Napa, Lowes, Home Depot, the local hardware store, and more, so no need to suggest that.
Just wanted to know if anyone knows the exact size of nut that fit into the top holes, and if I could order them online (and if not, what physical retailer may carry them).
I'm not at the point where I want to remove the indoor panel yet and thread some metal nuts through, but may do that if there's no solutions at all.
I had assumed I'd be able to find plastic nuts like the ones pictured on the bottom 2 holes, but nothing I've seen in person or online resembles those almost "Independent Skateboard Cross Logo" shaped nuts, haha.
Current rear license plate holder--missing top 2 nuts.
Fastener set I purchased that's considered "standard", screws work fine, but nuts are too large to fit into the top holes on the door/license plate area.
I had the same problem with my 2009 Honda Fit. Both factory-welded license plate nuts on the rear hatch rusted and then broke off. I tried welding a new nut but the hatch metal is so thin, it did not hold.
Want to try using these plastic screw inserts but might have to drill or trim the rusted hole to a better shape to fit the nylon insert first.
You can use a RIv-Nut if you drill the hole out just a tic..
They can be fuzzy to put in and I put jbweld on them before I squeeze them down with the riv-nut gun.
