Rubber stem or metal stem TPMS sensors
Rubber stem or metal stem TPMS sensors
Two months ago I had my 2012 Base Fit with steel wheels fitted with new tires and TPMS sensors at Town Fair Tire. The TPMS light, not the low tire pressure icon one, has illuminated 4 times since for 10 minutes at a time while driving at 65 MPH and eventually going off. Each time it happened Town Far Tire reprogrammed the sensors only to have this reoccur a few days later. After 12 years and 204K miles without any problems I'm convinced it's due to at least one crap Chinese sensor. They agreed to install new sensors that I would supply and refund me for the ones they installed. Honda parts online shows metal stems for my VIN but the ones on the car are rubber. Auto part stores show both with no explanation. Rock auto show only metal stems ones. I had one replaced in 2014 at 33K with a Shrader EZ 33000 and it worked fine but seems to be obsoleted and since Covid quality on every thing is crap. Has anyone experienced this or have any suggestions?
Status update- It's been 3 months and 3,000 miles since Town Fair Tire replaced all of the Dill 5003 sensors that they originally installed with new Autel 300020 sensors that they supplied and I haven't had any problems all.

I think a lot of people just learn to ignore the TPMS light, (or even put a piece of black electrical tape over it). I did find a guy in Europe who makes a pretty cool bypass, unfortunately and I have no idea why, he doesn't make them for Honda ... ???

It's just a little battery operated unit that transmits the same signal as the TPMS sensors, so you can just keep it in the glove box or wherever. Maybe Honda uses an encrypted signal or something? I have no idea

The question you should be asking is which TPMS sensors work well with the GE system.
Keep in mind Tire shops will use cloned TPMS sensors, because it is easier than keeping equipment to program the computer of all the cars they work on. The stock style replacement TPMS sensors need programmed to the Fit computer. Regardless of the sensor it could just be a weak battery. Before I replaced mine I kept getting the light when the weather got cold out cause the sensor battery voltage dipped. Honda Fit uses the 315mhz standard signal, nothing special.
