Unlock my doors, please!

Please help me reprogram the auto lock on my '09 Fit! I found in the manual how to turn off auto lock, but can't figure out how to get all the doors to unlock when the key is turned off.
(And yes, I know I can hit the remote or the door switch)

This is from memory, so forgive me if this doesn't work:

- Insert key and turn forward 2 clicks (don't turn engine on).

- Press and hold the door lock button to its "unlock" position.

- After 5 seconds you'll hear a click. DON'T LET GO YET! Wait another 5 seconds until you hear another click.

You're done.

Hope that works.

I don't think that option is possible unfortunately. This is from the manual:

The auto door unlocking feature hasthree possible settings:
● The auto door unlocking is deactivated all the time.
● On A/T vehicles, the driver's door unlocks when you move the shift lever to the Park (P) position. This is the default setting.
● The driver's door unlocks whenever you turn the ignition switch to the ACCESSORY (I) position. This is the default setting on M/T vehicles.

No, you CAN unlock all the doors when you turn the engine off. I did it on mine. It's all in the manual.

I wonder if he meant service manual instead of owners manual?

Yup, not in the manual... only the driver's door mode is discussed. But CrystalFiveMT is right, it does work!

Thanks!

Hmm. Those of you who don't see it in the owner's manual are you from Canada? Maybe the Canadian manuals don't have it?

It's definitely in mine because that's how I got the procedure. I'll try and remember to get a page # for you when I step out for lunch today.

heheh well I don't actually own a Fit yet, but I've been reading all about it plus downloaded the manual from here: https://techinfo.honda.com/rjanisis/.../AAA0909OM.pdf. It appears to be a 2009 North American manual that covers both Canada and USA

I'm in CA. Page 85 of the manual shows 3 possible settings for auto unlock. None of the settings listed work for ALL locks. Only the driver's door. Maybe it's shown elsewhere in the manual. I have only skimmed through it so far.

Doesn't matter to me since you stated how it's done... and it worked on my M/T. I'm happy.

This is discussed in the US manual, pages 83-87 (at least in the .pdf version downloaded from the web).

The auto-unlock procedure for when you turn the ignition OFF is:

- Car off, transmission in P (auto only of course)
- Put the ignition in the ON position (do not start vehicle)
- Push and hold the brake pedal down and shift out of P (auto only)
- Push and hold rear of master lock button until you hear the 2nd click (5 seconds)
- Release master lock buttonand within 5 seconds turn ignition to Accessory setting
- Shift back into P (auto only) and release brake
- Turn ignition OFF

^^ What you are showing is for DRIVER's DOOR ONLY. It says it right there below the bold writing....

"To program the Ignition Switch Unlock Mode: Unlocks the driver's door when the ignition switch is moved out of the ON (II) position."

Doh! You're right, should've looked closer. It seems that it only mentions auto unlock of the driver's door, not all doors. Is the hard-copy manual the same as the .pdf version? It seems that it is possible to auto unlock all doors, but not described (at least in the .pdf version).

Yeah, pdf appears to be the same (I have hard copy in front of me). Not sure why they don't list auto-unlock for all doors but C5MT's method works. When I read the manual I was worried that all doors would not be an option. That would've really annoyed me.

I'll definitely check my manual again. But all my doors unlock now after turning the engine off.

Did the rest of you try my procedure I listed? Does my procedure only work for MTs?

Tried this at lunch on my Sport 5MT... twice. Still no dice. Turned key 2 clicks, push and hold door unlock switch, and waited for and got the second click a bit after the first. When I turn the car off it still only unlocks the driver's door and not the passenger's.

Pull up ebrake
