The auto industry has changed, a lot. With the Detroit problems, Wall Street, banks, mortgages, etc.

Credit may be a lot harder to get. Higher down payments sometimes necessary.

You might try calling Honda back again, and asking how "usual" it is to request an additional down payment.

I'd also check the bank to see if they tried to process your check that you wanted them to hold.

Okay here's what happened today. I called my finance guy and asked him to provide me my HFS account number, so I could confirm if he was telling the truth and not BS'in me. He asked me why I need it and what for, I told him I just need to confirm a few things. (WTF you don't need to know) He told me he'll call me back because its going to take awhile to find it for me. (BS! IMO)

Then an hour later, I get a call back from him telling me that I got approved and I don't need to put an additional $1000 down and I should go there to give me the updated contract/paperwork.

This is was the deal that I signed for a few days ago.

09 FIT Sport 5-speed w/ paddles shift
72months
9.99% (Yep, my credit is so-so and this new car payments will bump my credit)
$19,010
$353

I get there and he told me, "Congrats, you got approved!" and then shows me the new final contract from Honda Finance. It seems the only way HF could approve me is to lower the amount financed and also my APR, but there some minor negatives which is expected. (Whatever, I still think that bastard tried to swindle me)

60months
9.49% (not bad i guess)
$17,920
$377 (whatever, I was going to pay more than the minimum anyway)
GAP included (better than nothing)

FINALLY this shit is over and done with. :3

Good job! Congratulations on getting your new car AND the paperwork taken care of.

Certainly getting the information about your HFS financing shouldn't be hard or some secret. It appears they have an excellent site, with options that could make it a bit easier for you, like an automatic pay system. I was looking ahead for you here:
FAQs about Finishing Your Financing Contract

It mentions the AHFC EasyPay service. And it mentions being able to access payoff information online. You can even make payments online. You probably know all this. Might as well take advantage of everything they offer for free.

Especially since that automatic payment will guarantee a good credit rating. Right? As long as there is enough money in your account when you're billed, you should have a PERFECT payment history with your new car.

2009 MT Sport TW

$15,143.00 ($350.00 Below Invoice)
6% Tax
$670.00 Destination Fee
$487.00 Processing Fee
$21.00 Tag Fee

$17,230.00 Out the Door
.

Of course, it helped to be the end of the month and the last day of the year. This was actually a better deal than normal too because they didn't have this car in their lot. They have to go out of state to get it and the fees for that are all included. They said it would cost the dealership may be 200-300 to get it...not sure if that's true though. may be.....

Fantastic! I think I would of gotten the same deal if I waited. Keep in mind I purchased mine back in 14 Dec. Not bad if I say so myself. You're the first that beat my purchase price. I got mine for $15393 before destination charge, titling fee, license fee, tax, etc. with OTD $17,423. Enjoy your new Fit for the new year! Happy New Year FitFreakers!

I just bought a 09 Storm Silver Fit Sport tonight. Dealerships can't keep them on the lots here. Mine has to be picked up from another dealer. I should get it Monday or Tuesday. I payed 17580 plus tax and title @5.5% through honda. I'm calling my credit union monday to see if they can get me a lower interest rate. I checked all three dealerships in my area 1 is 17580 msrp the other 2 are 17780 (apparently raise in price due to high demand)

No haggling was even possible. Oh well I don't think I got a bad deal.

You got a good deal! Some folks were paying $2,000.00 over MSRP a few months back. I haven't read this whole thread, but I just saw someone who REALLY wanted the Orange Revolution color so much that they ended up buying it 500 miles away!!!

For the folks who paid a few thousand over MSRP, it was a good deal, because they wanted to be one of the first people to have one. They got what they wanted.

For the folks who really wanted that specific color, with certain options, it was a good deal. Because they got what they wanted.

It's not like you can just run out and pick from hundreds of them. Unless you want to check all dealerships in the U.S. and fly cross country to get the car you want at a slightly better price...but you'd have to pay for the plane, the gas for the way back, lodging. See? You got a good deal!

09 Fit Base Auto, Sensation Blue, purchased mid dec for 100 under invoice, no bs fees involved. Definitely a good time to buy. A replacement for my wifes commuter (88 corolla FX auto) and huge improvement.

Bought 2009 Sport with Nav last night

Just Loving. Have a porsche 2001 996 Turbo, not traded in, and although the horsepower is in a completely different league, I'm thinking the little Honda is as fun to drive, but in a different way, and with a different set of priorities.
Astonished at quality of engineering that went into this little gem.

Got my little guy the third week in September, just found the site. I've got big plans as I'm sure we all do. Got rid of my 06 DC5 to buy this thing. It's a Blackberry 5AT for now. I'd post some pictures of some of my past projects if I could figure out how.

I drove by and there it was my beautiful 09 m/t bbp!!! We finished up the paper work on Dec. 17th and brought it home We havn't even sold the other one yet because we weren't even sure it was coming. So for now we own 2 the 07 a/t in my sig and the 09 m/t. Got the floormats in, it's tinted 35 where it's legal, nifty new shift knob and the wet okoles are ordered.
