Well, my back is in considerable pain every time I drive more than 10 minutes now. I thought I'd get used to it since I've always had to adjust to new seats, but this is so bad I think I may have to take a hit and trade it in already. I figure I'll be out a couple thousand by either: 1) getting the seats repadded 2) buying new seats and losing airbag capability, or 3) buy another new car. Thanks Honda for putting a deep lumbar support at my shoulder blades.
I've found the best seating position in the 09 is to have the seat back completely vertical. Good posture and all that rubbish, but it also seems easier on my back. I have a bad back too. And I would prefer more leaning back, personally, but I just can't do it in this car with these kinds of seats.

They should have made the lower support to be adjustable. I would think it would be especially difficult for pregnant women with that dang seat back shoving into the lower back.

And I cannot stand the head rests. They aren't restful. They are irritating. I may just take the things off, because they are just that uncomfortable. They also mess up hair styles. I think I'll try putting them on backwards first.

I agree on the back problems. When looking for the Fit (I just didn't know I was looking for it yet) I brought a Mazda 3 back to the dealership because I couldn't get the seat right, no matter what.

Putting the seatback upright is a must in any car, even a brand new BMW. Lumbar control would have been nice to have on the fit, however for the inherent cost, I can live without it. I'm not so sure I could live without airbags. Also, depending on your state/country modifying your airbag system could make your car un-streetable.

The last honda seat I bought (I got a free car with it. heh.) had two wheels to adjust the bottom portion of the seat's inclination. I miss this on the fit.

The "best" solution for this seems to be putting the seat as far back as you can stand, tilting it upright, and making full use of the telescopic steering wheel (which doesn't seem to telescope much compared to similar cars).

The headrests need some tweaking. Ok, a lot of tweaking. I've got 300 miles Gustave right now, and the headrests have not found their comfortable niche yet. I keep feeling like something is forcing my head forward, which isn't cool.

The fit is different than other american marketed cars, because it has that European sit up driving feel, more like a pickup. Some like it, others don't.

That's what we're doing! I have 5 Honda dealers I'm working with-so far, down to $16,220 plus TT and $99.00 "service fee." How did yours come out?

Picking up our '09 Fit Sport MT in Red Friday-$16,355 +TT and a luggage tray for "free". Took some doing, but that seemed from all the areas dealers to be about as good as I was going to get-within a $100.00 or so anyway. Looking forward to resting the '01 Civic MT for a while.

I'm still peeved that I couldn't get free floor mats. I've never gotten a car that didn't come with floor mats.

Hi, I'm new here. I just picked up a new '09 Fit on Tuesday. It's a black Manual Sport. So far so good, except for the annoying glovebox rattle on my cold drive to work today. I found the site looking for info about if anyone else was having this rattle.

Glovebox rattle

I haven't had any problem with glovebox rattling, but have read others that have. I'd say set up appt. with dealer to correct.

Got my Silver Storm Sport M/T last weekend! Loving this thing!! LOVE IT!

I drove a Honda CRX for years and miss it terribly, but this puppy is a great replacement. After the CRX I switched to a gas-quaffing Nissan Pathfinder. The way the Fit sips gas in comparison is quite nice.

A few minor quibbles: The side windows don't have defrost (except on the Canadian models, apparently?). I miss that from my Nissan. The rear window defrost doesn't turn off automatically on a timer. No external temperature display.

Other than those few little items, it's great! I look forward to driving to work in the morning.
